Arlington has something for everyone, from urban excitement to pleasant neighborhoods.
The North Arlington neighborhood of more than 500 homes, including Colonials, ramblers, and Tudors, is about a 15-minute drive from downtown DC. Grand with nice homes on big lots, warm neighborhood.
Houses have large tree-filled lots; some back to woods. The Gulf Branch Nature Center, which has trails that lead to the Potomac River, sits at the northeast end of the neighborhood.
Homefront: This began as a small neighborhood of 1940s-style summer homes built into the Arlington hills and around the Washington Golf and Country Club. Wonderful homes which have retained a traditional look despite renovations.
Who lives here: Young and middle-aged families, though some retirees are longtime locals.
Recent listings included seven homes ranging from just under $1 million to more than $2 million.
