Beauty, convenience, relaxation

My husband and I rented this place on September 8th, 2009. The description of the property was accurate, the owner helpful and managing the pontoon boat easy, even for landlubbers. We tried our hand at fishing for a hour or two, but caught nothing. We didn't care. Our passion is swimming and we feared we wouldn't be able to swim so late in the season but while the water was chilly, we found it swimmable. We also benefitted from the fact that most of the houses on the island had emptied out after Labor Day. Otherwise there would have been too much boat traffic to suit us. The house is clean, attractive, comfortable and very well equipped. We lacked for nothing, including band aids. We did one shopping in Bigfork which kept us supplied all week with breakfasts, lunches and dinners, although we did eat out two nights in Bigfork. Show Thyme was our favorite restaurant, followed by Invite. For a special snack, try the tea room--a bit of English countryside grace and charm in the midst of the rugged west. The whole area is gorgeous -- Glacier National Park being the most stupendous of the natural beauties -- but we took in plenty of loveliness just sitting on our sofa, staring out the window at the sky, lake and mountains. There's a great 4 mile round trip walk to take in Bigfork and some nice shops too. My only caution is this: if you love to swim you'll be plagued by motor boats in the summer and challenged by chill in September. We would definitely recommend with place to our friends.
