Area Description:
This rental is located just South of Downtown Chicago in the very quiet and safe neighborhood of Bridgeport. It is a 10-15 minute drive or cab ride to all of our great attractions. We are two train stops from downtown and one train stop from McCormick Place on our great public transportation system. Our Mayor Daley grew up 1/4 mile from us and lived here until just a few years ago when he moved to the downtown area. This is one of the safest neighborhoods in Chicago. 5 of our last 7 Mayors spanning 80 years came from this section of this neighborhood.
Our proximity to downtown, McCormick Place, I.I.T, and U.S. Cellular Field has made it a very hot residential destination for the last 10 years. One of my neighbors 5 or 6 houses away just built a $2.5 million mansion last year and next door to that house is a huge million dollar plus house with an indoor swimming pool in it's own addition. New construction and completely renovated buildings like ours are the norm.
It is an easy trip to downtown and the museum campus. This is a very quiet and peaceful block. You won't hear loud city noises like ambulance sirens and car horns etc here like you will in many of the more crowded city areas like downtown and the near north side.
Our daily newspaper, the Chicago Sun Times just voted our neighborhood the best place to trick or treat based on the safety and the family atmosphere of our area. This is what they had to say.
The best neighborhood for trick-or-treating in Chicago? Bridgeport, says a real estate web site that says it factored in where a kid's likely to get 'the most candy, with the least walking and minimal safety risks.'
Bridgeport gets props from Zillow.com as 'really a family neighborhood.'
