This property is located on a privately owned island off the coast of Maine. It sits on five acres on the Sasasnoa, or more commonly known as the Back River. The wide and open, home to a variety of wildlife found along the coast. The house itself consists of a series of buildings. The main River Haus is a glass and steel structure overlooking the view and deck. The Cottage, adjacent to the River Haus for sleeping where the two king sized beds are housed. The third building is Coast Guard House, which is more rustic and has its own bath house. The deck which joins the houses has no railings so this is not a suitable location for small children.

The property is located about 40 minutes north (or east) of Portland on the Back River. Ten miles to the south is Reid State Park, a wild and wonderful ocean beach. Popham State Park is about a 25 minute drive. The Maine Maritime Museum is in Bath, a 10 minute drive. Downtown Bath is a charming riverfront town, historical home to many shipbuilders. There are many restaurants and shops located within a short drive, if you ever feel like leaving this destination.

This is more rustic, looking onto the river through the large glass window. It is a separate building.

This destination property. You want to arrive and relax, enjoy this extremly unique setting. There are many things you can do, swim in the nearby pond when weather permits, visit the beaches or the local farmers markets. But mostly you will not want to leave. There are no railings on the deck and it will not be suitable for small children. It was a featured propery in Architectual Digest and you will know why. It is a place to renew yourself and unwind.
