I have visited Verona a few times for conferences and meetings, and since I was lucky enough to find the apartment in Via Roma the first time, I never thought of looking anywhere else when I was goimg back. Usually, I have added a couple of days to do some sightseeing or to do a bit of work. There is so much to see in Verona, so you will be spoilt for choice, and the apartment is also perfect for work: it is very quiet and it has a fast WiFi connection which can be used inside as well as outside on the terrace.
Via Roma is a lively pedestrian street, but not crowded like Via Mazzini can be, yet it is as central as you can wish, running from Castelvecchio to Piazza Bra. Right across the apartment, there is a small bar with tables on the pavement, and there are all kinds of shops and restaurants in the street, and also the grand Teatro Filarmonico di Verona. Although the opera season in the Arena on Piazza Bra runs from mid June to late August, there will also be some concerts and operas in the Teatro Filarmonico during the winter season. The website is divided into a "Stagione lirica e di balletto" for operas and ballets and a "stagione sinfonica" for symphonies. The website might be worth looking into if you are in Verona outside the summer season. There is also an adjoining hall, Sala Maffeiana, where smaller concerts are performed.
When you enter Via Roma 19, you leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind you, and perhaps you will meet Alessandra or someone in her family, including Spotty, a lovely and very quiet dog - he will not keep you awake. At night, the apartment is so quiet as if it was in the countryside. During the day, if you sit on the terrace, you can sometimes hear a few of the neighbours talking, exacly as it should be in a living city. As so many reviewers have pointed out, Alessandra and her family are so courteous and helpful, and at the same time unobtrusive. They have a wonderful city to share with their visitors.
Need I add that this apartment is highly recommended?
