Escape to the country on this 105 acre estate in the Mountain Lakes Region of West Virginia. A beautiful newly renovated 3000 square foot home boasts granite counters in a gourmet kitchen, 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths with a patio overlooking the meadows and pond. Total privacy abounds as you sit on the 2nd floor balcony of the master bedroom suite, watching deer in the meadow. This home has central ac, hardwood floors and a fully stocked kitchen. The house comfortably sleeps 10 with 1 king, 2 fulls, 2 twins, and a queen sleeper sofa. Linens are provided. The spacious, beautiful home is only surpassed by the 105 acres of privacy for your enjoyment. Catch some fish for dinner from our stocked fishing pond, hike or bike on miles of secluded trails, pick ripe blackberries or raspberries in season, pet our two resident Appaloosa horses, or simply sit back and relax, enjoying the perfect serenity that surrounds you. Walnut Cove Retreat is on a paved road only 1 mile from Rock Cave, WV, a small community located in the Mountain Lakes Region of West Virginia. The community boasts a small restaurant, a full grocery store, a post office, and a medical clinic. The West Virginia State Wildlife Center, a regional native wildlife zoo, is only 4 miles from Walnut Cove Retreat. Rock Cave is 15 miles from the town of Buckhannon, WV, a beautiful little town with restaurants and antiquing. It is home of the WV Strawberry Festival and West Virginia Wesleyan College. Only 20 miles from Rock Cave is Stonewall Jackson Lake and Resort, with fine dining, golf, and a wonderful lake. Rock Cave is also near Holly River State Park and Fiddlers Mill. There are ample opportunities for canoeing and trout fishing in the area.

Wildlife : Wildlife watching is a relaxing pastime. Black Bear, Bobcat, Whitetail Deer, Coyote, Fox, Osprey, and other small game have been sited from our patio! A must do is the West Virginia State Wildlife Center in French Creek, WV, only 4 miles from Walnut Cove. The Wildlife Center is a native wildlife zoo in a natural setting. In addition to the exhibit there is a gift shop, picnic areas and a stocked trout pond (license required).

Food: The full gourmet kitchen at Walnut Cove Retreat has everything you need to prepare that perfect meal. A full grocery store is located only 1.2 miles from the property. In case you want to go out, (but we doubt it) there is a small quick order restaurant in the community of Rock Cave 1.2 miles away. For more options, drive 15 miles to Buckhannon for fine dining at the 88 Restaurant and Lounge or casual dining at one of the many restaurants. Information on additional choices can be provided. Another fine dining option is Stillwaters Restaurant 20 miles away at Stonewall Jackson Lake and Resort.

Great Family Fun: Let the kids enjoy the swing, sandbox and sliding board, if they aren't already having too much fun exploring the property. In winter, don't forget your cross country skis, or simply enjoy great sledding (sleds provided).
