Prudence Island holiday cottage

Our one week stay on Prudence Island could not have been better. Jim and Kristin Towers have created a lovely vacation space overlooking Narragansett Bay which is perfect for those who are serious about wanting to get away from it all and enjoy some real peace and quiet. The cottage is well laid out, well kept and has all the amenities one would like for an island holiday. In addition, Jim and Kristin are excellent hosts and make themselves available for any questions or issues. Myself, my husband, our 3 year old son and our infant daughter all felt perfectly at home, and we fell in love with the place over the course of our stay. This was one of the most relaxing, enjoyable vacations we've had. Beautiful waterfront location, our own private beach, evenings sitting around the firepit with a glass of wine, while the children stuffed themselves silly with 'smores.
The cottage was comfortable, even for a family of 4 (girls ages 9 and 11) and one frisky labradoodle. Kristin and Jim have thought about everything - their attention to detail for guests' needs was wonderful. Lovely linens, fluffy towels, extra amenities in the bathroom- what considerate hosts they are. We LOVED the outdoor shower, and hardly ever used the indoor shower (thought it was also very roomy and nicely appointed). The yard is immaculately maintained, and were had no fear of the dog or children picking up ticks on the property. My husband spent an inordinate amount of time in the hammock- he completely embraced the pace of island life. We went digging for quahogs (plentiful), which we barbequed on the grill, and the girls even caught a few delicious fish off the T-dock at the southern end of the island. For those considering bringing their bikes, we would recommend hybrid or mountain bike tires, as the roads are not paved. We really enjoyed bicycling around the island.
We had a wonderful stay, and will definitely be back again.

From the time we saw the pictures of the cottage and read the ad online, my wife and I were hooked. We found Jim and Kristin very helpful, as we asked a lot of questions, this being our first vacation on the island. Our family's stay on the island was incredible; from the views, the solitude, the beach, the overall experience of "island living". We all decided, even our 16 and 13 year old sons, would go back to the island for another vacation in a heartbeat. We all had a great time biking and exploring the island, going to the almost 'private' beach, and kicking back and just plain relaxing. The cottage was very comfortable. You could tell that Jim and Kristin put a lot time and effort into renovating the cottage. If you are looking for a place on the water to get away from the hustle, reconnect with your family, and explore an island that seems to be from another era, this is your place.
