Perfect for a Couple

The hospitality and decorating skills of the owner are outstanding. Although named the "Log House" it is not rustic in any way. The interior is cosy and perfectly finished. We really enjoyed watching the view across the bay to wooded East Sooke, and beyond to snowy Olympic Mountains. A wonderful quiet location, yet within walking distance to docks and shopping. The loft bed is good for somebody who may wish to have their own space, its skylight giving a feeling of being close to nature. We stayed a month and were happy to conclude it was the best choice in the area for us.

A wonderful place to stay in Sooke Harbor

Our family of three enjoyed our 4 night stay in Ruma's suite so much! We biked in on the Galloping Goose trail from Victoria and were thrilled to be met with such private, immaculate lodging. Our hostess had even left us a beautiful fruit tray and snacks which were much appreciated after out long day on our bikes. Our daughter loved the loft and loved the Indian food Ruma made for us. We all enjoyed Sooke Harbour House, Sooke Pot Holes and relaxing in our suite. We would highly recommend this as an affordable and comfortable place to stay in Sooke.
Owner's Response: What a great family!Doing things together all the time.Two positive energies=good result.When a simple,plain food offered with open heart and received with warm heart,it is bound to be delicious and succulent.The suite is done well to provide comfort but it becomes wonderful when all the wonderful guests come and stay here.I would like to thank this wonderful family for this lovely review and kind words.It makes me feel good when I see there are people who appreciate my small,little and simple gestures and that is invaluable and priceless for me.I am sure I shall see this family again--A big thank you from my heart-Nameste.

Beautiful Location and a very kind host

The accommodation has a beautiful location, with a nice kitchen and room. Also the view from the room was lovely. It was clean and well-maintained. The description from the flyer is accurate. The owner was very vriendly, she made nice sushi- and other snacks. Victoria is a very beautiful city nearby Sooke, also the coastline is nice.
Owner's Response: It is a wonderful feeling when a magical rapport is created between me and my guests and feel that for a long time even when they are not there.What a lovely thing to write in my guest book specially the drawing of flowers.I know it will be there, not only me even my other guests will enjoy too.For this review--I feel I did my best to follow the path of Hinduism where it says guests are like God.Receive and treat them with open heart, the same way you receive your God.This is for you guys"dankeubell"--does not matter if it is spelled wrong, you know what I am trying to say.Yes,you got it right-"thankyou'.

Clean, quiet and comfortable stay

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Log House Suite and found it to be a lovely spot. Very clean, close to the main drag of Sooke, but on a short and quiet street. Ruma was the perfect hostess, there when needed but respectful of our privacy. She provided fresh flowers from her garden plus fruit and snacks, and even some wonderful homecooked Indian food one evening! There is a private entrance accessed through the garage (which has been converted into a laundry room, storage and sitting area) and the suite is roomy with lots of natural light. The loft area would be ideal for a teenager, but we choose the Murphy bed which was comfortable and easy to fold up during the day. Plenty of towels, pots and pans, hairdryer, iron etc. Although we spent most of our time in Victoria, be sure to walk the Whiffen Spit in Sooke - particularly nice in the early evening, and drive west to China Beach for breathtaking wild ocean. Thank you Ruma for a lovely stay.

Great view

Our holiday was fantastic! My wife and I and 2 kids stayed here the first week in July. The pictures of the place were exactly what we viewed and there were no suprises. The loft was great for the kids, they loved it. It had everything that we needed as a family: View of the ocean, deer roaming the yard with the occasional visit from the neighbourhood Raccoon. (which was pretty exciting for us prairie folk!) The Ocean was a stones throw away with pleanty of activity going on, Crab fishing, collecting shells, just hanging out! We would like to thank our hostess Ruma as she was very accomidating and gave us tons of ideas of what to do to keep us busy. The place was great and we will be back again one day. I was a little suprised by the guy totally bashing this place. Insects? Honestly. Yes there were a few bugs on occasion. where are you not going to find a bug? really! even in the finest Hotels or Resorts your going to find a bug or two, especially if you are on the ground level. It was not at all infested as a previous visitor stated. It's a great place and a great host! Some people are not happy unless they are complaining. Enjoy
