Bedrichov and Josefuv Dul dam:
Bedrichov dam on the Schwarze Neisse. The reservoir was created in 1902 -1905 and its dimensions are approx. 42 hectares. The average depth is around 15 meters. Due to its location and surrounding landscape this reservoir is a popular spot for tourists. In the summer time you can swim peacefully and in winter you can go cross country skiing over the icy water. The area of Josefuv Dul with its mixed industrial and farming character was founded in 1701. The old glass works from the 17th century were replaced in 1910 with the current works. Above the town is the largest water reservoir in the Iser mountains – Josefuv Dul reservoir (Josefodolská prehrada in Czech) with a total surface area of 145 hectares, which was built during the period 1976 until 1982 to serve as a drinking water reservoir for Liberec and Jablonec nad Nisou. The reservoir is created by two dams, each 43 meters in height and 720 meters long.
Iser mountain range:
There is a thick network of marked out trails with plenty of new sights at every turn – viewing towers, reservoirs and dams, monuments, former glass-works and nature reserves, all making a trip to the Iser mountains into an unforgettable experience, for example from the saddle of a horse that you can rent in Bedrichov. The Iser Mountains will enchant the visitor with their dry Nordic character and a host of beautiful locations with unique natural attractions. Here you can find countless marsh areas or areas covered with fir trees and forest. The Iser mountain nature reserve is the oldest of its kind in the Czech Republic. Even today the area has retained the image of the Nordic forests, enchanting nature lovers the whole year round. There is a nature trail near the Jizerka river which is named the “bog of Jizerka”.
Jested:
The highest mountain in Jeschenkamm (in Czech Ješted) is 1012 m above sea level . A small house was built on the peak of his mountain which served as a resting stop. The building served this purpose until 1963, when it burned down. Two years after, building work had already started on a new modern guest house and telecommunications building designed by the architect Karel Hubácek. This tower is 90 meters high and the architect was awarded the Perret prize, the highest accolade possible from the International Association of Architects. There is a wonderful view over all areas from this peak. The Petrin hill in Prague can even be seen from here. The tower with this silhouette has become the symbol for the region in Liberec and is an unmissable part of the town.

Malinovka (500m) with 8 lifts and night skiing, Severák (2.4 miles away) with 10 lifts, Špicák in Albrechtice with 5 t-bar lifts and a 4 seater cable lift (4.2 miles away). All of these areas have snow cannons for artificial snow creation, free parking, ski lessons and ski and snowboard equipment rental. The most beautiful cross country ski area, the Iser Skimagistrale, is located 1000 meters above sea level, an outstanding skiing area offering 72 miles of wide cross country ski runs with gentle slopes. You can explore the whole Iser mountain range by way of the Magistrale trails and you can even reach Nové Mesto pod Smrkem, Jizerka or Albrechtice.
