Direct on the beach:
Seashell sits on the sand of Grand Case Bay towards the quieter southern end, close by to Le Petit Hotel. It is about a five minute walk into the village from here along the beach. The exotic sea birds (frigates, pelicans, egrets) catch fish straight ahead and are a fabulous sight to see. Yellow sugar birds (les sucriers) and hummingbirds visit the interior garden daily. We will happily recommend where we like to eat and give directions to deserted beaches, preferred beach clubs, etc. Our manager can arrange additional services such as laundry, flowers and grocery delivery, to be paid locally. Our guests have confirmed to us this place is very special for two people to come and experience French Caribbean beach life. This is a perfect location to arrange side trips to Saba for scuba diving or for some island hopping or sailing.
Water Sports Activities:
Water skiing and wake boarding in the bay, snorkeling straight from your 'back yard' just to the left or take a trip over to Creole Rock (national marine reserve in the bay) where you might catch sight of rays, starfish and turtles. Dedicated activity specialist for water sports, boat trips/charters/fishing trips available (who can also communicate by email to make arrangements before your arrival). Paragliding, kite-surfing and surf boarding are available at Orient/Galion beach, which is about a seven minute car ride away.
Seashell - The Owner's Story:
After visiting many Caribbean islands, the Bahamas and the Key's on various vacations over 23 yrs, the owners always dreamt of finding their own vacation home on the beach. But where? During torrential rain in St. Johns, U.S.V.I., a long discussion began in the bar with a yacht owner who was a retired architect from NY, about all our favorite places in the Caribbean. His was Grand Case, Saint Martin. So, we came to see and fell in love with it. It feels French Caribbean, is charming and friendly. The beautiful bay is fabulous for swimming and snorkelling with views across to Anguilla. Gourmet restaurants astound you in this location. There is local charm with the Lolo's serving BBQ fayre including lobster, with 'happy' beers for $1. Live music plays most nights ranging from reggae, salsa & jazz in favourite bars. There are lovely art galleries, small boutiques and in season, a weekly street market with bands. The bay is a yacht haven. It is also a great base to island hop. We found it!
Other Activities:
