Great casual beach house

RobGH Decatur, GA
Review Submitted: August 23, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
This house in the small, quiet bayside town of Gulfport, near St. Petersburg, was a great place to have a small family reunion which included several toddler grandchildren. A block from a waveless bayfront beach, it was convenient for walking to both the beach and the pier for fishing.

The house itself was roomy, funky, and well-equipped with everything from broad-brimmed hats to gourmet coffee. With a little babyproofing we were able to protect the many decorative objects that give the house its character.

Making arrangements with the owner was easy, and the price was reasonable. We will definitely stay there again and would recommend to anyone.

Beach bums

Review Submitted: August 19, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
After three days in the car with 3 teenage boys traveling from Montreal, Canada you can say, I needed a break. And that I got in Nancy's very charming and funky Florida house. It was immaculate and well equipped with everything we needed. Everyday we discovered little treasures and trinkets that Nancy has throughout the house. The boys had a great time and thought of the house as "trés cool".

I brought books to read but ended up reading some of the books that were available in the extensive library of the house. The rooms and beds were very roomy and comfortable and left nothing to desire. The "his and hers" bicycles were a hit with all of us as we discovered Gulfport's charming neighbourhood. There are plenty of restaurants to pick from if you want to eat out but I was very content in Nancy's kitchen as there was everything you needed to make your meals. I shopped for our groceries in South Pasadena at Publix which is a 5 minute drive from the house.

We explored different beaches along this absolutely georgous Gulf coast during our two week stay, watched dolphins on a 11/2 hour speedboat cruise, collected shells and enjoyed the white sand on beaches in St.Pete's, Treasure Island and Clearwater. We drove to Sarasota over the fantastic Skyway Bridge and spent the day at Lido Beach and went shopping at the Ellington Prime Outlets on our way back. The boys and I also loved the backyard with its "handy" patio and observed the little lizards and other exotic "wildlife".

This vacation was one of the best experiences this single mother has had throughout her many, many trips with her three boys thanks to Nancy's incredible and well equipped house. Nancy provided us with absolutely everything we needed and then some. We started missing this house the second the front wheels of our car left the driveway.

My new favorite retreat!

Gnurjmo Sweeny, Tx
Review Submitted: July 7, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We just got back from our vacation and miss the place already! To start, Nancy was very easy and inviting to work with. The home was beautifully decorated yet warm and had a sence of calm to it. My family and I found the home to be the perfect place for us to escape to for our vacation.
We enjoyed bike rides through the community (the bikes were provided at the home), and met very warm and interesting people. The beach just a walk away was where my family and I spent our evenings. We enjoyed eating at some of the best places just right down the way!
The art walk was even more fun. We hardly had to leave this beautiful little community, there was so much right there for not only the adults but for my two boys also! We already miss the home and the community! We all very much look forward to our next trip! Thank you Nancy!

Perfect Home Rental

Dolores A Tarpon Springs, Florida, USA
Review Submitted: June 15, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Need to echo the other two reviewers who gave such
detailed reports on this house. Nancy is so easy to
work with. I didn't decide until the last minute, and the
rental was easily arranged. The house is perfectly
wonderful. It is the best-equipped place I have ever
rented....it is a home rather than a house. I called it
my funky, art-deco home...it took the whole week to
discover little nooks and crannies. I loved the decorating
and the warmth of the home.
Unfortunately, I had to spend most of Thursday through
Sunday in St Pete Beach, but it was great to be able to
come home to. And after sleeping one night in the twin-
bedded room while a guest was in the master queen-sized
bedroom, I remained in that room as the bed there was so
comfortable also. Everything about the house felt warm
and comfortable. The rooms are large and inviting.
The pictures give a good description of the house. And
the location is great...within walking distance of the town
and the beach; or, if you prefer, you can drive. There is
plenty of space for cars, and your own car can be under
cover, especially good during the hot, rainy months.
There is a vast selection of books, VHS movies and
music CDs. If you're flying down, you needn't pack more
than your personal items as everything is provided for you.
This is Gulfport's best kept secret (no more). If we have
our event next year again in St Pete Beach (just 10 min
away), I hope Nancy's home will be available. I only wish
I had two weeks to relax there rather than needing to
leave after one.

Great location!!!!!!!!!

Dockbabe Boothbay Harbor, Maine
Review Submitted: April 28, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We just loved staying in Gulfport & renting from Nancy. The house is a very typical Florida bungalow/ranch style home - but with an eclectic flair! Everything is brightly decorated including the doorless wallpapered closets. We thought it was wonderful!

We wanted for nothing in the way of kitchen items and we thoroughly enjoyed the Keurig Coffee maker. The laundry room is right off the kitchen where you’ll also find the tiled “beach” shower. Nancy also provides loads of cleaning supplies to keep the house tidy during your stay.

Having 2 bathrooms was great and the queen-size bed/mattress was very comfortable. We tried to use all the rooms, but when we were home we found ourselves mostly out back enjoying the outdoor patio and the sun (this area is completely private and fenced). The little lizards climbing all over are very entertaining though our little miniature schnauzer would always chase them away. Your well behaved dog is invited to stay with you and will love all the walks throughout the area.

If you are traveling with a dog, you must-must-must bring your dog to the dog park over near the Gulfport library (you can walk, but it’s a ways, so we drove). A building separates 2 fenced-in sides: one for big dogs and one side for small dogs. There’s even a doggie water fountain.

We didn’t meet anyone there who wasn’t extremely friendly and helpful. We traveled throughout the St. Pete region including stopping at several beaches, driving all over Fort Desoto – which is beautiful, and even driving down to Venice Beach to sift for pre-historic sharks’ teeth. One rainy day found us at the Prime Outlets in Ellenton – if you’re looking for it, you should find it there. Keep in mind that if it’s a rainy or extremely windy day – everyone else is heading there, too!

There are so many great restaurants within walking distance of the house or a short drive away. Nancy has a couple of huge folders of website printouts and brochures for you to look through to help you plan your exploring and dining options.

We would absolutely rent from Nancy again when we visit Gulfport – we just hope the house is available!
