I booked this property online, but when I arrived in NYC, was given another apartment in the same building - still two bedrooms, but dingy and poorly cared for. The living room had no light and the small windows had concrete views with just a small patch of sky. The living room sofa bed was lumpy, the toilet paper holder was taped to the wall, and the door lock was skimpy. Although we were told there was free internet, it didn't work. The 'TV' was a computer monitor. We could hear the pounding music from the gay bar right downstairs all night. The towels were old and threadbare and one bedroom had just enough room to shuffle your way into the bed, which was as hard as a board. We managed to negotiate a bit of a price break, but this was very disappointing for my sister who had never been to NY before - a bleak start to our vacation.

The apartment was in a good location but the living area was very small, ok for 2 or 3 people but not the 6 it is advertised for. Bedrooms were ok. Even though I requested enough towels for 5 people, they were small, old towels. Kitchen was ill equipped (not enough cutlery/crockery), but just round the corner from the apartment was the Renaissance cafe(9th Ave) which was wonderful and highly recommended. This place is ideal for students who are prepared to 'rough it' a bit. Overall, 2 star accommodation. Price is cheaper than elsewhere in New York but there is a reason for that!
