Transcend time and retreat to an ancient village on the undiscovered island of Kythira, south of the Peloponnese. Enjoy Greece as the Greeks do. Avoid crowds, tour buses and cruise ships. Enjoy uncrowded beaches, dramatic landscapes, charming villages and tavernas. Lovely old stone, village house on a ridge overlooking olive groves and cypresses. Recently renovated with the utmost respect for tradition while providing modern comforts. Three bed rooms each with en-suite modern baths, two with queen beds, one with twin futons. Full kitchen with new appliances including ice maker and two wood burning fireplaces, A large courtyard, a covered eating area and a huge roof veranda provide ample outdoor space. Minutes to the main town of Potamos, shops, beaches and tavernas. Activities including swimming, snorkeling, boating, hiking, site seeing, archeology, village festivals, Sunday farmer’s market, gallery exhibitions, et al.

The village of Perlingianka is located off the main road just south of the northern main town of Potamos and on the central western plane of Kythira. It is convenient to the airport, beaches, shopping, dining, Internet cafes, galleries and services. The Sunday farmer's market in Potamos offers local olive oil, honey, herbs and preserves. Village festivals are regularly held in summer as are art shows. Hiking is excellent with extensive, easy access to verdant valleys and waterfalls. Snorkeling is fantastic along a dramatic rocky coast and beaches are seldom even vaguely crowded. Archaeology sites and ancient churches abound.

Notes: The house is attractively arranged on four graduated levels including the roof veranda. As such, it is probably not convenient for the elderly or toddlers. All stone and polished concrete floors are beautiful and easy upkeep. Therefore, dogs are welcome. We expect to have Internet access by spring. Thick stone walls with the island's signature vaulted construction along with ceiling fans keep the interiors cool. Cross ventilation is excellent. This is a charming, ancient stone house brought up to today's standards.
