Live like a New Yorker in this lovely one bedroom townhouse apartment located in East Harlem two blocks from the Metro in an area called Spanish Harlem or Spa-Ha. This apartment is fully handicapped accessible with a backyard. it's own private entrance and in a very safe neighborhood. In the living-room there is a lovely full size European sofa bed to rest on from those long days of shopping and sight seeing. Then kick up your feet and enjoy watching TV with over 100 channels, or pop in a movie from a small library of movies provided for your viewing pleasure. Bring your lap-top to enjoy the free WI-FI. There is an AC in the bedroom for cooling and a fan for an additional breeze. In the winter the apartment is very warm and cozy. The bedroom faces the backyard, so you can rest with no street noise.

Area Description : In recent years this ethnic neighborhood has become more gentrified; hosting people from all races and walks of life. Many good restaurants and little well known neighborhood secrets have crept up. The restaurants are inexpensive, the service is good and you don't have to wait 40 minutes for a table. We have been living here for over 11 years and love every minute of it. People are kind to each other, and always smile back. It's a family neighborhood, and very safe. It is a very multi-cultural area, just what you would expect of New York. Metro #6 line is just two blocks away. Buses M15, M102, and M103 stop on either corner. It is very easy to get around town from here. Midtown is 10 minutes on the Metro.

OTHER INTERESTING THINGS TO DO:: Museum Mile, located on Fifth Avenue, where you will find the Metropolitan Museum, The Guggenheim, Jewish Museum and El Barrio Museum are all just a 15 minute stroll down 5TH Avenue or a 5 minute subway ride. Jefferson Park 2 blocks away, hosts playgrounds, and a new running track. The free public pool, which has been rated top 3 cleanest pools in NYC, has 2 sessions per day during summer months. North Central Park is 4 blocks away, truly a lovely side of the park most visitors miss. There you will find lovely nature walks, Tennis courts, bike paths, a another public pool, an ice skating ring in the winter months, and a pond. The geese and ducks loved to be fed, so please bring bread. There is a wonderful garden, which is in bloom all summer long, located on E.106Th Street and 5Th Avenue. Central Park activities include...boating, biking, roller blading, Children's zoo, bike rentals. Free summer concerts. Free Shakespeare in the Park (summer theater),Horse and buggy rides.

This place is great. When I first walked in I said " wow this looks just like the pictures" its very cute and modern style, it is very clean and well-maintained. The apartment is small but it will definitely sleep 3 as the descriptions says. I got a small cold during our stay and had a lot of different restaurant options to order from. Elizabeth, the owner, is great she answered all our questions and we will recommend this property to anyone.

We travelled to New York to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and the city and the accommodation did not disappoint. Prior to our visit, Elizabeth (the owner) was very helpful, answering all of our questions promptly and fully. She really does provide an excellent tourist information service about the area of Spanish Harlem and New York itself and you can tell how much she loves this city. The apartment is about 5-10 minutes walk from a subway stop which links you directly to downtown and about 15 minutes walk from the North end of Central Park which is really beautiful and should not be missed. There is also a good bus service which takes you downtown into Manhattan from right outside the door.

This apartment is a good option if you want to explore New York as if you were living in a community and Spanish Harlem is certainly a vibrant place. I would definitely recommend sampling the fantastic food and atmosphere of Amor Cubano, 5 mins walk from the apartment.

The apartment has everything that you need for your stay and is comfortably furnished and the garden is a nice place to chill out and have a beer in the evening after the hours that you will spend walking around the city of New York.

If you are looking for the height of luxury, fancy boutiques and café lifestyle or to be able to roll out of your accommodation onto the streets of New York, then this place isn’t for you. If however, you want to experience a multi-cultural neighbourhood and a real slice of New York living and don’t mind a short journey into the heart of Manhattan, then I would highly recommend staying in this accommodation. Elizabeth and her family will make you feel very welcome.
