Whales, turtles, seabirds, dolphin, and seals! :
Maui has abundant wildlife to view, mostly year round. The humpback whales and the seabirds are here almost opposite times of the year, but turtles, dolphin, monk seals, tropical fish and rays are fun to observe all year long. Plan to budget a whale watch during December-April, or a snorkel trip any time of year! Great fun and interest for the entire family.
Volunteer on Vacation!:
For those so inclined, you may 'volunteer on vacation' by coming to Monday morning workdays at the Kamaole Beaches or along the Heritage Trail. Please contact us for more information!
Kihei, South Maui:
Kihei is on the desert side of the island and is generally quite warm and dry, with an average temperature of about 85 degrees. There are only a couple of inches of rain a year on average, but when it does rain it usually really rains. It is rare to have more than a couple of days in a row that are poor weather. October is probably the warmest feeling month, because there is frequently a lot of humidity and 'Kona' winds. Residents love it from November until June, when the evening temperatures are comfortable and the days are still sunny and warm.
