HOUSE IS AVAILABLE IN OFF PEAK SEASONS FOR RENTAL WEEK DAYS & WEEKENDS ALSO AVAILABLE AS A WINTER RENTAL This charming cottage is located on a quiet street and a short one block walk to the Village. There is a gorgeous view from the yard of Narragansett Bay, Conanicut Marina and the Newport Pell Bridge. Downtown shops, restaurants, banks, Churches, post office, markets, and the library are all within a short walking distance. Come stay in the village area and enjoy the atmosphere of small town living. A short ride across the bridge is all the excitement of Newport tourism - the Mansions on Bellevue Avenue, Tennis Hall of Fame, Newport Beaches and famous downtown Newport shops. restaurants, nightlife. July and August bring the Jazz and Folk Festivals to Newport. Another added benefit is The Ferry to Newport is located just a short walk away from 'The Friendship Street Cottage' . This is a non-smoking and no pets home.

Our Summer Holiday

The descripition of this location is perfect. We found this home to be such an inviting place to be when the time comes to leave you find you wish you were staying longer. My husband and I rented there from July 20, 2009 until August 9,2009. We fell in love with the area and the people. We found everyone we met to be so friendly.

The owners Barbara & Mel Whitaker are fabulous people. After meeting them and talking with them through our three week stay it was as if we had known these two people for most of our lives.

If you want to spend an enjoyable day pack up a lunch and head out to Beavertail Park. What an incredible view-never crowded there. Watching the boats pass by and the sunset going down is something you will not forget.

I did grocery shopping at their local McQuades market and the people there are also so friendly.

For an additional treat go over to the dock in Newport and get those fresh lobsters right off the boat and bring them back to the house and cook them up. Wonderful!!

My husband walked down to the East Ferry deli in the morning for coffee. He loved the view of the harbour from there. For restaurants we went to Saddella's for dinner over in Newport. Food was excellent. Try Aunt Carrie's in Port Judith for a neat experience! Food also excellent there.

We plan on going back there again next summer we had such a wonderful time.

Friendship St. Cottage

We loved Friendship St. Cottage from the moment we drove into the driveway. It's very warm and welcoming as are the owners. They made us feel at home during our week-long stay and helped with any and every question we had.

Friendship St. Cottage is well equipped, comfortable, immaculate, and the pictures are very accurate.

We enjoyed walking to restaurants as well as walking and jogging around the area. We especially enjoyed eating breakfast on the patio as well as lobster and clam feasts at twilight.

Our only regret is that we only had a week to enjoy the quiet and lovely neighborhood and the restfulness of the cottage. We look forward to returning!

Holiday in Jamestown

We spent a week in this cottage as part of a family holiday (2 adults, 3 teenagers). We all enjoyed our stay and found the property to be spotlessly clean, very well equipped and comfortable. The owner was friendly and helpful and provided us with a lovely welcome. It was quick and easy to drive across the bridge to Newport, and we enjoyed exploring Jamestown on foot, wandering down to the harbour and visiting other attractions on the island This is a quiet and peaceful place to spend a holiday and local people were friendly and welcoming to us. We would love to return.

We stayed at this lovely beach style home for approx. 4 weeks in May -June 2009. The description, layout and amenities were exactly as advertised. The property was well maintained and kept very clean. We have rented other Jamestown properties in this price range and found this property to be superior to similar priced rentals.

The owners offered excellent customer service. They went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable. They were also available to answer questions and address any concerns.

We like the house's location because it is a short 5 minute walk to the local village center with banks, shops and a number of very good restaurants including Simpatico and The Oyster Bar. Jamestown is also a short drive to Newport with it's many attractions and excellent restaurants. Beavertail Lighthouse at the south end of Jamestown is a relatively undiscovered state park with spectacular views (sunsets) and great walking vistas.

We did find the televisions to be on the small side. This was probably due to our long stay where we watched a little more TV than we would on a shorter stay.

Overall, this is an excellent value rental. We highly recommend this property and plan to rent this propery again.
