Private, immaculate poolside cottage on 3.5-acre estate shaded by grandfather oaks, minutes from FishHawk. Walk to Starbucks or drive 15 minutes to golf, tennis, horseback riding, canoe rentals, hiking trails, state parks, wildlife preserves and some of the best mountain bike trails in the state. Country Retreat is an oasis of tranquility central to all that Florida has to offer. Thirty minutes from antique districts, outlet malls, Plant City, downtown Tampa and The Florida Aquarium. 45 minutes to Busch Gardens, less than an hour from the beaches, 75 minutes from Disney and two hours from the Space Coast and Cape Canaveral. An ideal location to explore Central Florida from coast to coast and an inviting, secluded retreat at the end of the day. Wildlife abounds as horses graze in the adjacent pasture. My wife and I stayed here on our first trip to Tampa and arrived at night and exhausted. We were greeted with a welcome pack of tea & pastries which was much appreciated as we didn't have the energy to go out for dinner. The next day the sun was out and we saw the place for the 1st time - amazing! We had breakfast by the pool surrounded by incredible giant Oaks and listened to the birds. The cottage was just perfect and had everything we needed & more. We walked to Starbucks and the supermarket is a 2 minute drive away so everything is on hand.
Jan & Fred are great hosts and no request was too much: how to get into town? how to get to the beach? where can we eat? and when we asked about sight-seeing Jan gave us the 'grand tour'.
If you want to chill out in the country this is the place to be.

We rented this cottage for a month and had a wonderful time. The facilities were very clean and well -maintained . We slept very well each night and the nice swimming pool beckoned us each day. We recommend this rental cottage to every one visiting this area and have advised some of our close friends to consider it for their next Florida stay.

I really loved the cottage. The owners were friendly and very helpful. The cottage was spectacular. Everything I needed was there. The next door neighbors were friendly and helpful as well. The scenery in the back yard was like none I have seen before. The moss hanging from the trees, the palms, and how they kept up the property was absolutely stunning. It made me not want to go home. The only complaint I had was that the antique bed was a pain. It had slats as most old beds do and they fall like most antique beds do, but the owners were willing to put more slats up to help, so the problem was quickly resolved. Everything was just fabulous!

Valrico Cottage

The cottage is in a quiet peaceful setting but is within walking distance of coffee shops, bakeries, grocery stores and more. In the month we stayed there we took in a hockey game in Tampa, visited friends in Largo, went to the Strawberry festival in Plant City, drove down the west coast as far as Sarasota plus the east coast as far as Fort Pierce and spent a lot of time on the golf range. If you are looking for a pet friendly enviornment, it doesn't get any better than this. The owners live on the same property and they are very helpful.
