Looking for a place for a romantic getaway or a quiet wine country retreat for one or two? Perfectly situated amongst vineyards off a country road in the 'golden triangle' pinot grape growing region of Sonoma County, this 'modern barn' was once a dance studio that has been transformed into a light-filled retreat set in the trees. Windows on three sides bring in the willows and pines, butterfly bushes, rosemary and lavender that grow in abundance around this 800 square foot studio retreat. You will be thrilled when you walk into this space and see the high ceilings with open beams, the soft lush colors and lovely furnishings. There is a completely new fully-equipped kitchen with stainless refrigerator, dishwasher and stove. It is separated from the living space by a dining area where you can sit and enjoy a romantic meal looking out toward the vineyard behind. The comfortable persimmon-color L-shaped sofa is a great spot to relax and read or watch the flat-screen TV.

Notes: This lofty light-filled studio is beautifully appointed with an eclectic mix of Asian antiques and modern design. The fusion of the old and the new is evident in the brand-new kitchen where above the dark wood cabinets, that beautifully offset the lighter wood floors and stainless appliances, is an antique wooden family crest that once adorned one of the owners' grandfather's Sonoma County winery back int he 1950's.

A writing desk in the corner of the living space that is surrounded by windows makes a wonderful spot to write, or work - if you have to. The house is equipped with wireless internet access. A private patio is a lovely spot to sit and breathe-in the gentle Sonoma sunrises, or to imbibe the local product on magical evenings. The studio is situated on the back of an acre on a quiet cul-de-sac.

Two wineries are in walking distance, dozens within a few minutes drive. Downtown Healdsburg is 15 minutes away down lovely country roads, the coast about 45 minutes, San Francisco an hour. Wonderful restaurants in Graton, Sebastopol and Forestville are 5 to 10 minutes away. Available Year-round, available as of 4/26/09

Private honeymoon getaway

This place will always have wonderful memories for me. It was a perfect, private escape for our honeymoon. You feel like it's your own flat - It's very tastefully appointed, comfortable and spacious. I like that it is so understated and not cluttered - makes for a very peaceful stay. We had lovely breakfasts out on the terrace and the freedom to make our own meals at night or go somewhere for a nice dinner.
It's close to all the wineries and located right next to a beautiful vineyard. Owners are very pleasant and helpful. A hidden gem.

What a wonderful little place to call home for a few days. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful, quaint, yet modern getaway. You have plenty of space and peace and quiet. I loved and it so will you!

We had a great time here--so much peace, so much beauty--a veritable "room with a view" large studio space. The picture on the ad doesn't do it justice, so we didn't know what to expect. We were thrilled with the large, luxurious studio, beautifully decorated, pristine--full of wonderful, warm energy! Beautiful kitchen area and bath as well--brand new! There is a large view sliding door, and you can see acres of vineyards--it's as if you live in the wine country and everyone else is gone!! It is perfectly private! Large, comfortable double bed, and extra space on the couch for a child! Perfect for a romantic getaway--by the light of the silvery moon and a gazillion stars!!! You won't be disappointed--this is well worth it--the best deal in the wine country. Great access to all wineries and shops! Cute little town, lots of good walking trails. We really loved it, and we can't wait to come back. Actually, I think I will give a few days to my son for a wedding gift. Enjoy!!!

Favorite Country Place with Beauty

I 'm happy to recommend this property - highly. What I liked the most was the beautyboth in the space and the quiet country beauty outside the door. The large studio space is a 10: aesthetic, tasteful and restful. One feels they are in beauty. It is clean. A mulberry tree was giving its fruit right on the doorstep. Good country walks. Sweet town with good shops nearby. We cooked. Good kitchen facilitities. A lovely place to relax deeply and connect romantically. Met the owner, and she provided what we needed.
