Our summer home is rare rental in southwestern Nova Scotia between Digby/Annapolis Royal and Long/Briar Islands. The area is culturally and ecology rich and diverse. The home itself sits on a quiet cove - Whale Cove - overlooking a crescent-shaped agate beach and small harbor. Whale Cove is a quiet, lovely, wild and peaceful community of fishermen and summertime visitors. The house is an updated century home; it has been in the same family since it was built. It sits on a cliff overlooking the cove. The view is incredible, as are the sunsets. The house is comfortable and charming: one bedroom has a double bed; the other bedroom has two twins. There is a living room, parlour, large eat-in kitchen, two baths and a study. Everything is provided except food and personal laundry services. Dogs are sometimes welcome but caution is advised with small children - it's a steep drop into the Bay of Fundy from the backyard.

Whale Cove is located on Digby Neck, a 25-mile-long, environmentally unique peninsula jutting into the Bay of Fundy, a region with the highest tides in the world. Whale Cove is a small, quiet fishing village with an agate beach, a protected cove and sunsets. It's rugged and beautiful. Whales, dophins and porpoises often swim past Whale Cove on their way up or down 'The Neck'. Bird life abounds. It's a special place hidden from a busy world.

Notes: Children are welcome but must be watched carefully in the backyard. The house is built on a cliff over the cove. Dogs are okay if they stay off the furniture and don't come into the house like wet mops. My own dogs aren't allowed beyond the kitchen.

Golf: There is golfing in Digby at the Pines Resort. Although we don't golf, it's supposed to be a terrific course.
