Come and relax under the Caribbean sun. Enjoy the tropical breezes, the sparkling waters and the coral reefs of this island paradise from the luxury of your own private island. Fort Morgan Cay is a thirty acre (twelve hectare), white sand ringed island located in the secluded Port Royal Bay, located a mere five minute boat ride from the Honduran island of Roatán. Famous for its proximity to the world’s second largest coral reef, these tropical waters boast unrivaled snorkeling and scuba diving just off its shores. The island has three gorgeous secluded beaches to enjoy the warm Caribbean waters. When you have had enough sun, grab a kayak or jet ski and explore the eastern end of the island with its mangrove habitat, egrets, blue crabs and turtles, or visit a nearby sunken reef, drop a line in the sea for grouper and bass, or snorkel for conch.

Discovered in 1512 by Christopher Columbus, The Bay Islands of Honduras still keep their primitive essence. Roatán is a true tropical island with steep-sloping jungle-covered hills, long stretches of sandy beaches and beautiful fringing coral reefs. Home originally to the Paya Indians, the island passed from country to country during the conquest of the Americas in the 16th century, viciously fought by both English and Spanish crowns. This island became the mighty stronghold of Henry Morgan, who ravaged and plundered the Spanish Main. Occupied by the British for a long time, Roatán carries a legacy in the language and culture. In the African slave trade, Roatán had the dubious pleasure of being the dumping ground for the most rebellious and troublesome slaves the British could not control. Today, their descendants compromise a distinct ethnic group called Garífuna. Their wonderful culture of song and dance is still linked to their West African heritage.

  • All-inclusive rate (All food & drinks): US 2,500 per night / US 17,500 weekly
  • Included in the price: Airport pick-up, Maid and laundry service, Linen and bath/beach towels, Bathrobes and toiletries, Unlimited use of snorkel equipment, sea kayaks, ATV, sailboat, jet skis and boats (fuel is extra).

    Payment: 10% deposit on confirmation of booking. Final payment is required 7 days before your arrival. Full payment is required at booking if within this time limit. A security deposit of 10% of the booking price is required to be paid with your final payment. This is to cover the cost of any damages beyond reasonable wear and tear. If there are no damages, we will reimburse you for the security deposit within 7 days of your departure. We accept credit cards through Paypal & wire transfers in US Dollars. Additional services can be paid in US Dollars or Honduran Lempira.

    Equipment Rental: The use of boats and jet skis is included in the price. Fuel is extra.

Notes: A large living, dining, and reading room is at the center of the island's activities. In this room, there is a small library of English and Spanish-language books, a music system, a self-help beverage cooler and a color television. Just outside are the sunning deck, a rock-lined fresh water pool, a hammock terrace and a boat dock. A dedicated full-time staff on the island includes a cook, two housekeepers/launders, and boat captain & facilities manager. There are plenty of toys to enjoy: two sea kayaks, two wave runners, a Hobie Cat catamaran sailboat, a four wheel drive ATV, three speed boats and plenty of snorkel gear. The island is fully self-contained, and as such is not connected to Roatán's power, telephone or water supplies. We have a power generator that supplies our own electricity. The drinking water is store bought and potable water is collected in underground cisterns from rainwater. Cell phone service is good, since there is a nearby transmitter on Roatán

Activities: What you do on Fort Morgan Cay can vary from the most energetic to the most relaxing. The choice is yours. You can take one of our motorboats to explore the pristine bays and exotic mangroves of Roatán or one of the dozens of other smaller nearby islands including the Cayos Cochinos National Park. You can go trolling for sport fish, sailing in the bay, or diving and snorkeling among the fabulous coral reefs just east of the island. You can also explore the island’s own attractions on kayak or by foot: the turtles in their protected bay, the starfish, the blue crabs that scuttle among the mangroves, the shells, or the old fort. You can head into Roatán for activities such as horseback riding, day spas, zip lining above the rain forest canopy, swimming among trained dolphins, or visiting butterfly and iguana farms. And at night, try out the West End of Roatán for dancing and partying.

If you desire to extend your visit to other areas we can arrange for a private aircraft to take you from Fort Morgan Cay’s private runway to the destination of your choice. We suggest a visit to Copan, the impressive ceremonial Mayan center in the mainland or an exciting white water rafting trip in La Ceiba. Or you can just find a hammock, a lounge chair, or the al fresco bed under the palapa and let the serenity of your private island wash over you.

Historic Ruins: The western end of the island appeals to history buffs: it was there that generations of pirates, adventurers and buccaneers (including Captain Henry Morgan, who stopped here in 1664) held camp. Visit the stone remains of their fort, fresh water well, and gunpowder depot.
