Carmel by the Sea, a unique destination:
Carmel holds many memories for first time and repeat visitors. Wide white sand beaches and beautiful vistas during the day, the sound of the waves and smell of the ocean at night. Whether for a special event such as a wedding, honeymoon, or anniversary Carmel is a favorite getaway location. If this is your first visit or fifteenth visit, we hope you enjoy your visit to Carmel and the Monterey Bay Area. Our cottage is a great location for walking to the beach or around town, as well as a jumping off point for day trips to surrounding destinations such as Carmel Valley, Monterey Bay, Big Sur or other points of interest.
There is more than shopping and art in Carmel:
The nearby Carmel Beach is a great starting point for outdoor activities. Offering beautiful white sand beaches and views of Pebble Beach at one end, and Point Lobos at the other end. Golf in the area is fantasic with a wide range of courses to fit everyone's ability and budget. Hiking is fabulous with nearby Point Lobos the first marine state park in the nation and the home of locally famous Edward Weston and Ansel Adams. There are many great locations for nature photography or other outdoor activities.
17 Mile Drive exits into the Carmel, so treat yourself to a drive along the famous 17 Mile Drive (fee for cars, bikes are free) and enjoy lunch at Spanish Bay or the Lodge Tap Room. Alternative routes are Highway 1 south to Big Sur and Nepenthe, or into warm hot weather on Carmel Valley Road for wine tasting.
Enjoy Carmel's restaurants:
Have breakfast at the Tuck Box, the best eggs and scones in town set in an iconic Carmel Cottage building. Try Bruno's Market at the top of Ocean for picnic supplies and fabulous sandwiches. Stroll the courtyard of the Carmel mission at the edge of town. Stop in and check out the Coach Outlet Store or peruse the art galleries.
Your stay may not last long enough to try all the wonderful restaurants in the area, so for a romantic evening, try the Carmel Highlands Inn, but get there at least an hour before sunset for spectacular views of the coast and some of best food anywhere! Ask us for tips, we want you to enjoy your stay the way you want it!

Golf:
There are an incredible number of world class golf courses in the area at much less money than you might think if you check for promotional specials. There are municipal courses and resort courses and well maybe there are a few you can't play...but you can dream of playing Cypress Point or the Peninsula Golf Club
