The area was settled by ranchers in the 1800's and still retains the flavor of the a small romantic town. The White Mountains is the premier resort and tourist area of Arizona where people from all over the Western states come for hunting, fishing, camping, winter skiing and the numerous summer and fall festivals held in the surrounding towns. Show Low Country Club Golf Course has recently been renamed Bison Golf & Country Club is a great place to play 18 holes of championship golf. The course was designed by PGA tour star Billy Mayfair and the surrounding by luxury homes. There is also a public 9-hole course called Show Low 1. This classic course was designed by Arthur Jack Snyder and dates back to 1960. It has 3 sets of teeboxes for some fun and challenging golfing.
