The Cascades Golf Course:
The Cascades golf course lies between the Savannah Oaks and the Piney Woods of North America providing a majestic setting like none other. The golf course originally constructed in the 1950’s has preserved the wonders of nature this area uniquely offers and people from all over the world visit to view the natural vegetation such as Azaleas, Dogwoods and the Tyler’s world famous roses.
The golf course enjoyed a prestigious life in the 50’s, through the 90’s hosted and crowned some of the greatest names in golf, Masters Champion Fred Couples, United States Open Champion Payne Stewart, Colonial Champion Homero Blancas and TPC and Byron Nelson Champion Mark Hayes just to name a few. The high quality design, natural setting and strong test of golf gained the course much notoriety and brought players to Tyler from all over the nation. The golf course has gained such great respect that it is now the home of the Texas State Open conducted by the North Texas PGA of America.
Lake Bellwood:
The origin of Lake Bellwood, named for the nearby community of Bellwood, can be traced back to 1894 when the City of Tyler constructed an earthen dam across Indian Creek. The 185-acre lake created by the dam became known as Lake Bellwood and served as a source of water for Tyler until 1950. Today, the dam is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic structure, due to the special process used to create this hydraulic-fill dam.
Today, residents of The Cascades luxury golf and residential community can enjoy lakefront living and world-class fishing and boating on Lake Bellwood, which is swimming with large mouth bass, bluegill and more. A private marina for residents is planned to open July 2009.

Located on The Cascades Golf Course. The Cascades is proud to have been selected as one of only four sites in the country for the prestigious Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf. This remarkable indoor/outdoor facility offers members of The Cascades community access to one of the few total learning centers in the country that employs the latest in digital technology and offers superior outdoor practice areas. Fairway and greenside bunkers with both uphill and downhill lies emulate conditions found out on the course.
Beginner group lessons, junior programs, advanced clinics, private lessons, and lesson series are also available for both men and women.
