Our cottage does not offer direct beach access but a number of low bluff accesses to Manistee's sugar-sand beaches are within a 5-15 minute drive. Take an evening stroll down the quiet country road for beautiful lake and sunset views or just sit back and enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife from the large open deck. This newly constructed, completely furnished, T&G nautical style cottage offers the perfect spot for family vacations, hunting, fishing, or snowmobile trips. Within walking distance to thousands of acres of Manistee National Forest offering great opportunities to explore the natural beauty, hunt and snowmobile. Just 9 miles south of Manistee. Area: Northwest Michigan offers a variety of 'day trips' from the cottage. Ludington's car ferry, The Badger is just 30 minutes south and offers daily trips to Wisconsin. Nearby Tippy Dam is renowned for its spring and fall Steelhead runs. Take a hike on the North Country Trail just west of town. Hamlin and Portage Lakes offer great boating and fishing. Visit Sleeping Bear Dunes, Interlochen Music Academy and Traverse City just a little over and hour north. Take in an ol' fashioned drive-in movie at the Cherry Bowl Drive-In 45 minutes north. Crystal Mountain & Big M Trail offer great downhill and cross-country skiing for a winter getaway. At the end of the day return to the cottage and sit by the campfire, gaze at the stars and relax - that's what vacations are for!

Great Get-away

3 of us went there for some R&R and some hunting and it was a great place to get away to. The location is very nice and secluded and you can hear Lake Michigan rolling on the shores!

Sitting on the deck and looking at natural Michigan forest was fantastic and the stars at night were incredible.

The inside is very well done and the furnishing are very well done. Mac and Liz are great folks and we would certainly look to stay with them at this place again.

Get away and stay here.

This was the most adorable and wonderful place to stay! Set in the woods was great, so quiet, and just plain beautiful. The layout is just perfect, lots of space, great kitchen, Decorated in an adorable combo of "outdoors" and nautical. The price per night was unbelievable, they could easily get double. Location was great, close to Manistee, Ludington, and Pentwater. It was very easy to make the reservations, communication was prompt and very clear, and Mac and Liz were very kind and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would love to go back next year if possible!

Luxury away from it all

The Sunset Coast Cottage was extremely clean and furnished and decorated with flair. Although it was in a secluded location in the woods across from Lake Michigan without lake access, it had all the amenities of home. We enjoyed grilling out many family dinners on the deck. A few deer skittered by the woods in back. In the evening, we gathered around the fire pit for S’mores. We enjoyed ping pong games and Trivial Pursuit. There’s a considerate assortment of books and brochures on local attractions too. Around Manistee, we went beach and pier walking, canoeing, hiking and tried to capture the sunset. We enjoyed the Boathouse restaurant and the ice cream at the House of Flavors. We followed a huge ship along the River Walk as it made its way. On a rainy day, we toured the gorgeous Ramsdell Theatre. Call if you plan on touring other than on a Saturday. There are also museums, a Trolley Tour, and a bowling alley. We took a trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes and dined on fresh Lake Michigan whitefish in Glen Arbor. The hosts were very nice and I would definitely recommend this property.
