Montemerano is one of the most picturesque villages within the Maremma, it is situated on a hill. It encapsulates the inviting beauty of the 14th century architecture, but without the mass tourism. The house is carefully restored and suitable for children. Being located in the Centro Storico, which includes the small traffic-free square, just a few minutes from the parking place (luggage transport possible). The surrounding neighbours are locals or are Italians enjoying their holiday homes. The village benefits from 3 bars, 6 restaurants, including the famous Caino, a delightful bakery, a good butcher, a delicatessen, my small Bottega for art and ceramics and finally one of the most amazing churches within south Tuscany. The homely house can also be used by small groups (up to 8 people). Additionally I also offer an apartment next door, which can further be used by a couple with or without a child.

Notes to the rental rates

• The price includes water, electricity, bedding and towels. The prices for the day or week allow 4 people to stay, however any further person will need to pay an extra 50 € per week or 20 € per day. Children under 5 years are free. During main holiday season (August) an additional 20% on top of the rent is required. The costs for heating are depending on usage. Final cleaning is 50 € .

Living in the village and relaxing in nature. If interested visitors can enjoy our private gardens, which are 2.5 km away at Poderi di Montenegrin (beautiful walk): 800 sqm with olive trees, vine, flowers, fruit-, vegetable- and herb- garden, hammock, outside kitchen, barbeque, table tennis, simple outside shower, 2 sheep, 2 dogs, 3 cats, 8 chickens. From Easter onwards each of the surrounding villages celebrate weekly “sagra”, which is a village party offering dance, the local food and wine for affordable prices- great fun for kids ! Visitors with more spiritual needs, can find something really special: The ancient volcano Monte Labro has always attracted Buddhists, Christians, artists and scientists from around the world.

I exhibit the work of local artists in my gallery. I have a fully functional workshop with extra facilities at the garden. Visitors, who are interested could utilise this including my kilns and materials. For painters and other fine artists everything is available. However details and costs by arrangement.

Those interested in self-improvement, can enjoy the spa Termi di Saturnia.

Golf Information:

Around the Terme di Saturnia currently under construction is the largest golf course in Europe. The Canadian architect’s designs involve preserving the natural beauty, by for example keeping hundreds of olive trees. The construction started 2006 and the opening is expected 2008.
