Montemerano is one of the most picturesque villages within the Maremma, it is situated on a hill. It encapsulates the inviting beauty of the 14th century architecture, but without the mass tourism. The house is carefully restored and suitable for children. Being located in the Centro Storico, which includes the small traffic-free square, just a few minutes from the parking place (luggage transport possible). The surrounding neighbours are locals or are Italians enjoying their holiday homes. The village benefits from 3 bars, 6 restaurants, including the famous Caino, a delightful bakery, a good butcher, a delicatessen, my small Bottega for art and ceramics and finally one of the most amazing churches within south Tuscany. The homely house can also be used by small groups (up to 8 people). Additionally I also offer an apartment next door, which can further be used by a couple with or without a child.

Montemerano is located between the Sea, Costa d`Argento and the lake Bolsena (each about 40 km). The rivers Albegna and Fiora, based in ancient valleys, are ideal for swimming also for the little ones. The breath-taking landscape includes hills with olive trees, vineyards, woods, fields and pastures for horses and sheep. It is only 5 minutes by car to the hot (37°) sulphurous volcanic spring of Saturnia that was appreciated by the ancient Romans. There is the choice to enjoy this spring at the open to the public cascades or at the spa offering a lido and luxurious wellness programs. Within 40 km there are the ancient Etruscan towns Pitigliano, Sorano, Sovana, excavations of Vitozza and Vulci, the Niki de Saint Phalle’s garden of Tarot, the Daniel Spoerri’s garden of sculptures, the antique temples of Roselle or Cosa, which is located on the cost of Monte Argentario with its delightful town Orbetello. Additional information about rental rates

  • The price includes water, electricity, bedding and towels. The prices for the day or week allow 4 people to stay, however any further person will need to pay an extra 100 € per week or 40 € per day. Children under 5 years are free. During main holiday season (15th of June to 15th of Sept) an additional 20% on top of the rent is required. The costs for heating are depending on usage. Final cleaning is 50 €, one load of a washingmachine costs 5 €.

Notes: The house is furnished with Tuscan antiques and original art. Visitors can use the old piano in the living room. The house is located on a traffic-free piazza that can be enjoyed like a court yard. In front of the house, under typical Tuscan stairs, there is a shady seating area. The surrounding is very child friendly, kids can play safely in the Centro Storico for example with one of our many cats.

Further Details: Living in the village and relaxing in nature. If interested visitors can enjoy our private gardens, which are 2.5 km away at Poderi di Montenegrin (beautiful walk): 800 sqm with olive trees, vine, flowers, fruit-, vegetable- and herb- garden, hammock, outside kitchen, barbeque, table tennis, simple outside shower, 2 sheep, 2 dogs, 3 cats, 8 chickens. From Easter onwards each of the surrounding villages celebrate weekly “sagra”, which is a village party offering dance, the local food and wine for affordable prices- great fun for kids ! Visitors with more spiritual needs, can find something really special: The ancient volcano Monte Labro has always attracted Buddhists, Christians, artists and scientists from around the world.

I exhibit the work of local artists in my gallery. I have a fully functional workshop with extra facilities at the garden. Visitors, who are interested could utilise this including my kilns and materials. For painters and other fine artists everything is available. However details and costs by arrangement.

Those interested in self-improvement, can enjoy the spa Termi di Saturnia.

Golf: Around the Terme di Saturnia currently under construction is the largest golf course in Europe. The Canadian architect’s designs involve preserving the natural beauty, by for example keeping hundreds of olive trees. The construction started 2006 and the opening is expected 2008. Ostern 2009, Familienurlaub mit erwachsenen Kindern, deren Partner. Das Haus ist sehr geeignet für solche
"Feste". Selber kochen, oder 5 Minuten zu einem Familien-Restaurant. Für jeden von uns 8 war etwas dabei:
Für 2 Reiten, für einen Golf, 1 glücklicher Motorradfahrer, der von den Kurven schwärmte, für alle die Saturnia
Thermen. Man lebt in Montemerano in absoluter Schönheit, bei allem Komfort. Wir werden dieses Erlebnis
wiederholen. Mm.
