Mauna Lani holiday townhome

My family of 3 adults, 1 senior and 2 teenagers stayed 7/14-7/18/09. Property is exactly as described and shown. Nice finishout and appliances, large bedrooms and closets, upscale bathrooms. Split level with kitchen, half-bath, living, master bedroom and bath and lanai upstairs and laundry and other two bedrooms and baths down. property was well maintained and clean. South Kohala Management is on site - a real plus. You have access to a gated pool/exercise area as well as a gated beach with bar and restaurant open 10-6. Go early for a cabana. Lanai has a gas grill built in that is great for grilling. Townhome has all the conveniences of home including a full size washer and dryer, upscale kitchen appliance and all the cooking and eating utinsels.

Property is gated and adjacent to Muana Lani shopping with a gormet grocery store and several restaurants. You need a car on the Big Island. The townhomes all look similar and don't have a great view, but you are only a few miles from Hupana beach and 20-30 minutes the Kona airport (plane tour of the island or copter ride) and Hilo area with a Walmart and Costco. Volcano National Park/Hilo area is a 2 1/2 mile drive. It takes about 6 hours to drive around the entire Island.

Management company returned security deposit promptly and cleaning fees were reasonable. Only issue was that the cable and internet were disconnected the first day but the management company had the service back on the next day.

Definately recommend taking a plane or copter ride to see the volcano and waterfalls - well worth the money (although cheaper out of Hilo than Kona). Volcano National park is great but need to do some hiking to really explore. Snorkling is great on the Kona side and old Kona has wonderful shops and restaurants.

We would definately stay here again and make it our base of operations for exploring the Big Island.
