Photos and Description of this Richmond holiday house 3 bedrooms, 1 full bath, 1 half bath, sleeps 6-8 and a pet.

Spend a week nestled at the edge of the beautiful Mattaponi. Use the kayaks or the golf clubs or nap on the screened porch made of trees. The ceiling fans should keep you cool or go inside to the air conditioning and hang out in the downstairs lounge with the cherry wood panels and the fish theme pebble mosaic. Also you'll find big screen satellite TV, PS2, and tons of games. The newly remodeled kitchen is ready to go. Just bring food. All 3 bedrooms have satellite TV. Linens, towels and coffee are supplied. The upstairs bedroom has its own lounge and ruby powder room. There are 2 picnic tables. One on the screened porch and one in the Emerald Moss Garden. Most pets are welcome.

If you enjoy boating, fishing, swimming... the Mattaponi River is the place for you. This house sits about 50' from the edge of the river with 2 kayaks and a canoe for your convenience. Zoar State Park is just across the river so hiking and park activities are easy! There's a public boat ramp about 1000' away (but totally out of eye shot). Aylett is close to Richmond (50 min.), DC (90 min) Willamsburg (60 min) with easy access to fast moving roads.

An autumn getaway

A great weekend just up the road form Richmond; it felt like a world away. It was a reunion of 3 couples (including one very cute baby) for the weekend. We were able to have a shorter stay than usual (typically 3 night minimum) as Larkin was hospitable to meet our needs as the house wouldn't have been rented otherwise. I found this house through the website and didn't really know what to expect. The house has a lot of special little characteristics and was very comfortable for our needs. We had the heat on and the fireplace going to keep us nice and warm. We cooked on the outside grill several times, which was very nice. We even were able to roast a lamb in the special convection oven/microwave appliance. It was delicious. We watched some football on the satellite big screen. Some of us braved the cooler temperatures and took the boats out on the water. The weather was nice enough for us to walk in the state forest just across the river. All in all, it was a very nice visit. The only surprise to me was the proximity of Rte 360. It was only about 75 yards from the house. So, when you are outside, you notice it.

Larkin was very responsive to making sure we were taken care of including coming back to the house to deal with a plumbing issue that arose which was quickly remedied.

After we left, we headed north to Tappahannock for a Sunday brunch and then checked out a couple of wineries in the Northern Neck. That was a fun way to wrap up the weekend.

A Great Getaway

My family and I enjoyed a lovely long-weekend retreat at the Aylett River Paradise. The house and porch were charming and clean... nice beds and linens... plenty of games... and 2 great hammocks which took my children to outerspace and back!

There's dining 20 mins down the road in Tappahannock but the Aylett Drive-In is just down the road and grocery shopping is nearby as well.

We all enjoyed paddling down the Mattaponi in the kayaks and canoe. There weren't really any destination spots within short paddling distance along the river, but if you're quiet enough, there are opportunities to see some wildlife.

All in all, it was a great getaway!

Awesome

My family and I (two adults 10 and 16 year old girls) came here for our vacation and it was perfect. You could not ask for a better person to rent from than Larkin. The house is very well taken care of and has all the charm any body could ask for. The location is perfect if your interested in Williamsburg and all that area has to offer which we did and it is a short drive also Kings Dominion amusement park is a short drive.

I would and have recommended this house to my friends and family.

There's a grocery store and restaurants 10 min away. If you like to have peace and quite this is the place for you. My family and I have stayed at 12 plus vacation homes and this is in the top notch.

I hope you come and stay and have as much fun as we did.
