Resort:
This is the place for the get away from it all vacation. It is completely private and usually only has a few guests at a time. The service is really special you will be well cared for and attended to. The security of the property is excellent.
The property is made up of one building of 15 privately owned condos all 2 bedrooms. In front of that building is the beautiful pool and adjacent jacuzzi. In front of that is the onsite restaurant with a world class Chef. The green lawn then stretches to the bluff overlooking the ocean. All units have balcony or patio with an ocean view.
Also part of the small resort are 6 large single family homes (some for rent by the owners) well spaced and private. The gardens and grounds are beautifully maintained.
The staff is helpful and attentive, yet literally unseen if not needed.
Beach:
The beach is full of natural beauty. There is good 'real' surf to the right where the sand is hard packed and darker. Or walk to the left for soft white sands and wading. A little further is a practically on shore reef for exploring or snorkling. It is by far the most versatile and beautiful natural beach we have found in the Dominican, hence part of the reason we decided to make this our personal paradise. There is a surf shack stuck in the woods to the right that has become a hotspot for surfers. (you'll wonder how they found it!) The instructors are personable and speak a number of different languages. Walk a few hundred yards past the surf shack to a tiny restaurant with fresh carribean lobster and cold Presidentes as well as delicious frozen drinks made with fresh fruit and local rum. Just to tide you over for the walk back to Hideaway resort for a nap by the pool !!!
Don't forget that Kite Beach in Cabarete is the wind and kite surfing capitol of the world. give it a try !
Dining & Tourism:
You have a full kitchen so you can certainly eat in. There is a large grocery store in Sosua or smaller ones in Cabarete (both 15-20 minutes by car) However Chef Arsenio makes killer surf and turf as well as several other great French and Carribean dishes. One night he brought us appetizers on the beach and a perfectly chilled bottle of wine while we watched the sunset.
Head into Cabarete and the choices are bountiful. from an Irish Pub to excellent Italian and French Cusine all on the beach in a surprisingly upscale environment. The town is mainly made up of American expats and people of all ages from all over Europe.
In Cabarete you will find many options for sight seeing or action tours. From mountain climbing and biking to beach and sailing tours. There is white water rafting ,waterfalls or jeep safari tours. (Check Iguana Mama Tours)Head out for deep sea fishing or a historical tour of Puerto Plata. The kids will love Oceanworld, the water park or go-carting. All nearby.
Golf:
