Prairie City Oregon is at the eastern end of the beautiful John Day Valley on the main stem of the John Day River with its headwaters originating in the Strawberry and Blue mountains, right in front of you 10 miles. It is one of the few remaining classic American towns that has not been box stored or ‘discovered’. A nice house, in town off the main street and an ideal home for groups, sleeping up to 11. Two floors, 2 living rooms, small office area, 1 1/2 kitchens, 2 bathrooms, washer/dryer, porch, deck and yard, dish TV, internet, local telephone, all completely furnished, with wood or oil heat and air conditioning upstairs for summer. There is also plenty of parking for big rigs and trailers. Next door is Chucks Little Diner and the Ox Bow dinner house and bar. Totally renovated and furnished, all you need do is bring your luggage and some groceries and you are home.

Notes: There is a large yard and deck area. Next door is a very nice classic American restaurant with great food and very reasonable. Up the street is the Ox Bow for dinner, a classic American western bar and dining place for families and all. The town is beautifully located at the most scenic end of the John Day Valley with easy access to mountains, rivers and lakes.

We enjoyed your rental house on our recent muzzle rifle elk hunting trip. In lieu of taking our travel trailers and camping we decided to try your house. We are very glad we made that choice. We probalbly saved half the rental cost is gasoline plus much less time and effort coming and going.

The house was quite comfortable, clean and private. Its location just off the main street made it easy for access to town. The updated kitchen was well equipted with everything we needed for cooking. Dish Network satelite TV was much better than cable as we have it at home. It was nice to have internet service albiet dial-up took a while to get used to.

All in all both couples enjoyed the stay very much. The only regret of our trip was my muzzleloader misfiring with two branch bull elk standing broadside at 25 yards. At least I will have a story to tell.
