Riverwood & surroundings:
Riverwood is a gated community, giving you not only privacy and safety, but also an opportunity to view daily an abundance of wildlife. From the balcony of our condo, which overlooks a lake, you can enjoy your coffee in the morning and your glass of whatever in the evening and sit and watch rare birds, turtles and even alligators. All our renters to date have raved about the balcony or the lanai as they call it in Florida. (See Comments)
If you just want to swim or sunbathe, Riverwood offers two pools, one on Grande Vista and a junior Olympic pool at the activity center. Both pools have a hot tub, changing rooms, and you won’t have to get up early to get a sun bed.
The new activity center also has a fitness center, a library, tennis and croquet, children’s’ play area, plus classes in Tai Chi, water fitness, bridge, and more -----.
Riverwood also has walking/cycle paths around the whole area.

Situated only one and a half hours driving time from Tampa, and two and a half hours from Orlando, this beautiful area boasts beaches covered with shells, no high rise buildings and quiet roads.
The beautiful island of Gasparilla, with it’s old style Florida mansions reminiscent of Key West, but without the crowds, and unique shopping and fine restaurants is only a fifteen minute drive. Must be OK’ cos George Bush and his family visit every January.
Plenty of boating and fishing in the area, and if you get tired of playing golf at Riverwood, many other courses in the area.
Nearby are the 'worth seeing' areas of Siesta Key, Venice, Sanibel and Longboat Key. The famous Florida Keys are a four hour drive, but if you’re so relaxed by this time, you can get a boat daily from Fort Myers which is a leisurely 45 minute drive.

Restaurants a plenty, all within an easy driving distance, try lunch at the clubhouse, or visit our favorite restaurants, The Captain and Cowboy, Farlows on the water to name but two. We have an information pack at the condo with loads of suggestions and directions.
Shopping
The mall is ten minutes drive away, food shopping the same. The outlets at Miromar 45 minutes and for the exclusive shops visit Tampa, Gasparilla, Sarasota (1 hour) Naples (1 hour).
