Take breakfast in one of the beach side restaurants while visiting with the locals. Dance the evening away to local music at a beachfront gathering.
Belize is a friendly, English speaking country with British, Caribbean, and Mayan Indian influence. Placencia is a town of a few hundred people on a peninsula of the best beaches in Belize, just a few miles from the Great Barrier Reef. Most people are Creole, Hispanic or Central American with a fairly large group of U.S. expatriates along with Canadians, Europeans, and world travelers in general. Safety should not be a concern as Belizians love visitors to their country and are a treasure in themselves. You will find yourself settling into their leisure island time quickly. And when you get back home you may find it hard to adapt!
Other Activities:
Mayan archaeology, world class fishing-snorkeling-diving on Great Barrier reef, wildlife tours, sunset sea cruises, sailing charters
