Lake Theiß:
Lake Theiß has a surface area of 127 square kilometres. After Lake Balaton, it is Hungary's second largest lake. It was created about 20 years ago after Teiß River was dammed. Part of the lake has been declared a nature reserve (Bird sanctuary), but most of it is available for water sports, fishing and swimming. Unlike Lake Balaton, motor boats are allowed here. Lake Theiß is a fishers' paradise; catfish, pike-perch, carp, and even sturgeon can be caught here with ease by experienced fishermen. But even beginners will enjoy their luck! Boat rentals are available at the lake.
Tiszafüred:
There is a daily vegetable market in Tiszafüred where one can stock up on one's daily needs. It features fresh regional fruits, vegetables, eggs, flowers, etc. Additionally, traders and individuals run a market twice a week (Thursdays and Saturdays) at which clothing, jewellery, watches, tools books, oil paintings, an rummage are sold. All of your daily needs will be available at numerous local shops. There are two grocery chains in town (Penny and Coop), which are good for large shopping trips. Every year in June, Tiszafüred features the 'Fishing Days' festival, at which music and dance groups from all over Hungary offer an impressive program. Along with locals and tourists, the festival attracts guests from all over Europe. There are also contests and games, providing something for every one.
