Fresh flowers, bottle of Oregon wine and gift card to a neighborhood eatery welcome you to this cozy, classic Craftsman bungalow tucked into Ladd's Addition, a unique and desirable historic Portland neighborhood. Curl up on the sofa in front of the fireplace, cup of hot chocolate in one hand, cold-blooded mystery in the other, and gaze through the windows at our 'liquid sunshine.' In the master bedroom, there's a queen-size platform bed and large dresser. The smaller bedroom, with Internet access, has a desk and a daybed with trundle. The remodeled stone-counter kitchen has a new stainless fridge and gas range, dishwasher, and is fully equipped with microwave, pots and pans, dishes, herbs and spices, and (of course!) that Pacific NW essential: an espresso machine! French doors in the dining room open onto a tranquil deck area, with table, chairs, a new gas barbecue -- and the tall surrounding cedar fence creating maximum privacy.
For the Kiddos:
In the finished basement, a large open area is set up as a playroom for all ages. Cable TV and a modest collection of movies and board games for adults. (Monopoly, anyone? Scrabble? Clue? Candyland? Checkers?) For the younger set, dollhouse, dress-up costumes, art supplies, puzzles, teddy bears, Legos and other toys await. In the bathroom, there's both shower and tub -- bubble bath and rubber duckies on request! Highchair, booster seat, crib, playpen, changing table and stroller are available, as are rollaway and inflatable beds for your own visitors.
Explore Portland & Vicinity:
A delightful amble through the shady streets of Ladd's Addition leads to the neighborhood's beautiful rose gardens. Walk one block to Kettleman's Bagels, two blocks to Tennessee Red's rib joint. A leisurely stroll lands you right into the charmingly diverse hustle-bustle of the Hawthorne District, with its many ethnic eateries, bookstores, cinemas and varied shops. Both supermarket and natural food store lie nearby. Within minutes, the city bus whisks you over the river to Portland's vibrant downtown, or to the busy eastside Lloyd Center district. Visit our wonderful Oregon Zoo or Hoyt Arboretum . . . or strike out further and explore Oregon's Coast, Multnomah Falls in the Columbia Gorge, or Timberline Lodge, up on Mt. Hood!
