Stroll up the winding town stairs to buy your morning baguette or watch the town wake up from your table in a friendly café as you sip your espresso. This extraordinary little town of 5,000 is both vibrant and relaxing, an undiscovered treasure and a world heritage site. Host a party or just relax on the patio of our large, private, walled garden, sample grapes from the organic vineyard, or pick apples, cherries, pears, plums, peaches and strawberries to your heart's delight. Lovely Semur-en-Auxois is a hidden jewel of the famous Burgundy region. There are many nearby wineries and historical points of interest for day trips. Each year there are music and Medieval festivals and even a horse race through town. There is also a large freshwater lake just 3 km from the house that feeds the Burgundy canals for swimming and boating. The rolling hills and lush country side make for wonderful bike rides. Although a care is recommended, it is not necessary. The bus stop is about 300m from the house. The TGV Train drops you off in nearby Montbard and during commute times there is a connecting bus waiting at the train station for the 20 minute ride to Semur. Make sure to ask about the conntecting bus when you buy your train tickets. For site seeing, buses to local towns are frequent and inexpensive. There is a tourist office at the town gate (on your walk between the bus stop and the house) which will help you with bus schedules and local attractions.
