You can make lovely walks streight from the house to the villages around Ochsenthal. You should not miss to klime up to the Sodenberg (506 m), offering a wonderful view to the hills of the 'Hohe Rhön', Steigerwald and Spessart. Experience nature and enjoy to stay in the hamlet of Ochsenthal, part of Morlesau, situated at the foot of the legendary Sodenberg hill, there is a little paradise for nature lovers and hikers, for cyclists, bikers, and canoeists. Have a restful holiday by the Fraenkische Saale river in the northern part of Bavaria near Würzburg and Bad Kissingen. Morlesau/Ochsenthal belongs to the town of Hammelburg - situated right in the middle of Germany. So you easily get to all the famous and worth seeing towns of Franconia like: Fulda, Schweinfurt, Bamberg, Coburg, Nürnberg, Erfurt, Weimar, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Bayreuth, Würzburg, Aschaffenburg etc. You also will not miss cultur: concerts, museums etc. I am sure, you will enjoy the excellent food. The Spath family welcome you most warmly to their 'Haus am Sodenberg' in the wine growing region along the Franconia Saale river on the sunny side of the Rhön hills. The house is situated in a fantastic location on the outskirts of the village of Ochsenthal offering a marvellous view of the village of Morlesau, the valley of the Saale river, and the Rhön hills. The whole region is a hikers’ paradise, a protected area with rare plants and animals. The premises include a 2000 sq. m. meadow for sunbathing and playing; there are comfortable deck chairs and garden furniture, as well as a barbecue area. The facilities have been awarded the 'Landurlaub' (Country vacation) seal by the German Agrigultural Cociety (DLG) 3 stars. Even inside our house you feel nature offering a marvellous view over the valley of the Saale river and to the Rhön hills. You will disturb no neighbour and feel absolutely free and happy. Forget the strain of every day life. There is beauty in every season.

Franken - in the middle of Germany - is a holiday area with a multitude of charms. Our region is surrounded by the hills of the Bavarian Rhön in the North, the Steigerwald in the East, the Spessart in the West and the Fränkisches Weinland in the south. In each region there are bigger towns and many lovely small places worth seeing. The people are all very kind and helpful. I am sure you will enjoy to stay here. Hammelburg Franconia's oldest wine town. The oldest document in the Bavarian Public Record Office is a note of the gift by Karl the Great in the year 777 a.d. It is written down that the Crown Estate of Hammelburg was handed over to the record Hammelburg is the oldest wine-producing town in Franconia. From 'Schloss Saaleck' which stands high above the baroque monastery and the town you have a wonderful few over the river Saale and the Rhön hills. The small town itself has many cobbled and twisted lanes, the marketplace and the fountain of the early renaissance and more.
