Neighbors:
Our house is at the end of a little alleyway where all the neighboring houses have long been occupied by artisans/craftsmen who still work at home folding fans, designing Yuzen kimono patterns, and carefully placing gold plates onto gorgeous hand painted fans.
Surroundings:
Walking towards North for five minutes will take you to one of the seven Geisha districts left in Kyoto called Miyagawa-cho. There, you can find beautifully dressed Geisha and Maiko walk around gracefully through paved streets. Walking towards West for five minutes will take you to a hip cafe ran by one of the Apple designers, where you can enjoy a perfect cup of Cappuccino by Kamo river. And walking towards East for 5 minutes, you'll find yourself in the midst of Kiyomizu Pottery galleries along the way to Kiyomizu Temple, UNESCO World Heritage listed site. Walking towards South for 5 mins, you'll find an organic Nepalese restaurant and a hip organic grocer next to each other on the way to a tomb of one of the greatest Shogun, Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
