The Mansion has been decorated and furnished throughout to provide a delicate balance of luxury and comfort while respecting its historical integrity. The exterior of the Mansion features a ten foot wide wrap-around porch on three sides. The original twelve over twelve widows have been well preserved and most of the original hand-poured glass panes are in place. There are six red bricked chimneys that service the eight fireplaces. The interior of the main house is distinguished by ten and one half foot coved ceilings, nine foot paneled mahogany doors and original gas lighting fixtures, most of which has been electrified.
Distinctive Elements:
The first floor is planned around a unique elliptical opening that creates a balcony in the great room, an exquisite u–shaped grand staircase, and a large, architecturally designed fireplace. To the east of the great room lie the music room and the trophy room whose intimate settings are highlighted by two of the mansions eight working fireplaces, each of which is uniquely designed. Along the corridor from the entry hall to the large kitchen is the formal dining room, also featuring a large, distinctive fireplace. The kitchen itself features commercial grade appliances. The kitchen is further augmented by the butler’s pantry and ‘stone’ kitchen for additional storage.
