A Fantastic Week

My wife and I spent a week of our honeymoon in this beautiful cottage just outside Skibbereen. It was a pleasant respite from hotels and moving about to have a set home to come back to each night and prepare our own food. Aside from issues with the lack of cable and internet, it was a beautiful oasis on an overall fabulous trip. We loved the experience so much that we hope to return someday either together, or with our future family.

Nichts ist wie es einmal war... Ich dachte, ich hätte schon viel gesehen auf dieser Welt, war an exotischen Orten, doch keiner hat mich so sehr gefangen wie Ty Mair... Hier gab es Zeit, mich selbst zu finden, die Eindrücke des Herumreisens zu verarbeiten, auf mich wirken zu lassen, nochmals zu genießen. Ich gehe als Freund von Irland, von Ty Mair, einem Flecken Paradies auf Erden... wenn es so was gibt... paradiesische Gastgeber: Maria, Michael, Maureen und Alexandra. Nicht Adieu, sondern auf Wiederseh´n.... M. und S. M. aus der Schweiz.

Liebe auf den ersten Blick

Ty Mair wurde uns von Freunden empfohlen und wir sind nicht gerade mit niedrigen Erwartungen zu unserem ersten Irlandurlaub aufgebrochen. Aber diese wurden bei weitem übertroffen durch eine sehr aufmerksame, hilfsbereite Gastgeberfamilie, die bis ins Detail liebevoll gestaltete Unterkunft und eine Umgebung, die für den 'Garten Eden' Modell stehen könnte. Als Augangspunkt für vielerlei Tagestouren, um den Südwesten von Irland zu erkunden, ist der Standort ideal,...aber ein Auto sollte man schon mitbringen.
Wir, die wir mit unserer Tochter zu dritt - leider nur eine Woche - das schöne Stone-Cottage bewohnt haben, sind jedenfalls von dem Gesehenen und Erlebten so begeistert, dass wir Irland und diesem Plätzchen wohl wieder einen Besuch abstatten werden.

Traumhaftes und toll ausgestattetes Cottage

Wir haben Anfang August 2009 1 Woche in diesem zauberhaften Domizil mit Blick auf Fluss und Kühe aus dem Wintergarten heraus verbracht und waren absolut begeistert. Sauber, ordentlich, nette Vermieter, absolute Ruhe, viel Liebe zum Detail bei den Schreinerarbeiten :-) ...und eine tolle Idee mit der kleinen, an das Bad angrenzenden Sauna. Auch der Ofen hat uns sehr erfreut, gibt es diesen doch häufig nicht in Ferienunterkünften.

Hält, was es verspricht!

Wir haben zwei erholsame Wochen in Ty Mair verbracht und ließen uns aufgrund des gemütlichen Hauses mit Wintergarten und Sauna auch bei zwei sehr tristen Regentagen die Laune nicht verderben. Das Haus ist sehr gepflegt und mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet, was nicht immer bei Ferienhäusern der Fall ist. Die ausgesprochen freundlichen Vermieter standen uns immer mit Rat und Tat zur Verfügung und wir haben uns auch menschlich gut betreut gefühlt. Der nahe gelegene Golfplatz in Skibbereen wurde bald zu unserem Heimatplatz - aber auch anspruchsvolle Plätze wie Bantry Bay und Old Head sind gut zu erreichen. Besonders gut gefiel uns der Hafen von Baltimore. Wir waren sicherlich nicht zum letzten Mal in Irland!
