Le Sivadal is an old farmhouse, imaginatively modernized to provide comfortable, spacious accommodation. The reception rooms are large and well equipped and filled with interesting art, objects trouve and photographic art. The attractive bedrooms are roomy and enjoy views over the surrounding gently rolling countryside. The large salt water swimming pool is a focal point for all ages. Part of the grounds and gardens are simply left as a field, full of spring flowers and only cut once a year to allow wild flowers to flourish. In addition there are more formal areas planted with mature and younger trees, shrubs, flowers and herbs, with shady terraces for eating outside. It is a haven for nature lovers, for relaxation and for artists, either working at Sivadal itself or exploring stunning local views and old towns. The nearby medieval hilltop town of Cordes sur Ciel is a gem; , full of narrow streets interesting shops, crafts, and galleries and with a thriving weekly market.

The house is set in rolling countryside near the famous medieval hilltop town of Cordes sur Ciel. Nearby are a myriad of other charming old villages as well as the beautiful city of Toulouse and also Albi with its magnificent cathedral and Toulouse Lautrec museum. The area is famous for art and crafts, drawing modern day artists by its beauty and the quality of the light. The local vineyards where one can enjoy tasting sessions are part of the well known Gaillac wine region. The rivers of the Tarn and Aveyron provide opportunities for boat trips, kayaking or swimming. Colourful markets are weekly features of all the surrounding towns and villages. For eating out, the region is known for its cuisine featuring duck, foie gras and the famous cassoulet. To walk off the good living there is a network of walking paths and quiet lanes for cycling.

Notes: The pool is large, unheated and fenced for safety. The 2 bikes are old and used at your own risk. Although many elderly people have stayed at Sivadal there are many steps and uneven surfaces. The children's toys are well used and basic. There is satellite access but visitors would need to bring their own sky box and card. Otherwise television is limited to French channels. The table tennis table is for outdoor use. There is also an area for playing boules and badminton.

An historic area: Le Sivadal is set in one of the most historically interesting areas of France. As well as the justly famous Cordes sur Ciel there are many of 'les plus beaux villages de France' within a short drive. Albi has an awe inspiring cathedral and is set overlooking the river Tarn. the adjacent ancient Bishop's Palace houses the Toulouse Lautrec museum. Toulouse, known as the pink city after the gentle colour of its buildings has many interesting churches, museums and galleries with elegant squares and tempting shops.

Wine tasting and markets: The house is part of the Gaillac wine region, centered on the local town of that name. There are many local vineyards where you can call for a wine tasting or to buy direct from the producer. Every French town has its weekly market and there is a list of these in the house. Particularly well regarded are the markets in the beautiful towns of St Antonin Nobel Val on the river Aveyron and in Villefranche de Rouergue

Outdoor activities: Local activities include kayaking on the river Aveyron, golf at Albi or near Gaillac, horseriding biking or walking (using the well marked routes or 'randonees') or visiting gardens such as the Jardin des Paradis in Cordes.
