Il Poggio is a 200 years old Tuscan farmhouse up in the hills und surrounded by woodland near the Umbrian border. The house has been carefully renovated to meet present-day requirements. It accommodates up to 6 persons: 2 bedrooms, living / dining room, spacious entrance hall, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, extra toilet, central heating, open-fire place, Sat-TV, telephone and 2 large terraces. At an altitude of 660 m guests will enjoy even in hot summers a cool breeze. A pergola with grape wine offers shade and if you do not mind birds twittering you will enjoy absolute tranquillity and a beautiful panorama of wooded hills. Before driving up the hill to Il Poggio you come through Mercatale, a small town with 500 inhabitants, 3 supermarkets, 2 butcheries, a bakery, 1 pharmacy, various bars, small shops, 3 banks, a post office and petrol station. In the Trattoria Mimmi in Mercatale you get regional dishes. You can also play tennis there and go for a swim.
