Il Poggio is a 200 years old Tuscan farmhouse up in the hills und surrounded by woodland near the Umbrian border. The house has been carefully renovated to meet present-day requirements. It accommodates up to 6 persons: 2 bedrooms, living / dining room, spacious entrance hall, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, extra toilet, central heating, open-fire place, Sat-TV, telephone and 2 large terraces. At an altitude of 660 m guests will enjoy even in hot summers a cool breeze. A pergola with grape wine offers shade and if you do not mind birds twittering you will enjoy absolute tranquillity and a beautiful panorama of wooded hills. Before driving up the hill to Il Poggio you come through Mercatale, a small town with 500 inhabitants, 3 supermarkets, 2 butcheries, a bakery, 1 pharmacy, various bars, small shops, 3 banks, a post office and petrol station. In the Trattoria Mimmi in Mercatale you get regional dishes. You can also play tennis there and go for a swim.

Places of interest, arts, museums, vineyards Cortona, Assisi, Perugia, Siena,Florence, Rome and many more interesting places can easily be visited by car from il Poggio. Florence and Rome can also by reached by train from Terontola station (25 km). In Montepulciano / Tuscany visit the winery Cantina Gattavecchi from the 12th century, still owned by one family, and try the famous Nobile di Montepulciano. In Umbria Cantina Antonelli in Montefalco can be recommended. How to get to Il Poggio: Motorway Florence Rome, exit at Perugia / Val di Chiana, speedway to Perugia, exit at Tuoro, drive up the hill from Tuoro, follow signs for Mercatale or Umbertide.
