The apartment is on the second floor of a two-storied house, in a quiet, sunny part of Losone. The Apartment has a big, modern furnished living and dining room, two bedrooms, one of this bedrooms with entrance to the balcony. Another balcony is in the kitchen. The house is easy to reach by car in summer and winter. The new golf course at the Golf Club ‘alle Gerre Losone’ is at five minutes walking distance from the holiday Apartment “Casa Ko Samui”, also the river Maggia, where fun is guaranteed in crystal clear waters, on natural beaches and with multitude of grilling facilities. In only 5 minutes by car (20 minutes by bicycle) you reach Locarno or Ascona, where a multitude of shops, boutiques and restaurants await you. Both have beautiful promenades along the lake with nice gardens and harbours.

Culture

Locarno has a castle where you can see Roman glassware and other interesting exhibits. A 30 minutes drive takes you to Bellinzona, with the 3 castles wich have been inserted in the list of international monuments. Important exhibitions shown in Locarno, Ascona, Bellinzona and Lugano are part of the European cultural exchange, such as the famous exhibitions at the 'Villa Favorita' in Lugano, for example. In smaller cities the culturally interested will find many small museums and art galleries where local and international artists now living in Ticino present their art. A multitude of small historical and archaeological museums present the history of the Ticino in a sometimes almost familiar and caring way to their visitors.

Local Cuisine

Don’t miss to visit a typical Ticino “grotto”. Experience tranquility under the shade of chestnut trees. In these restaurants, a meeting point for tourists and locals alike, the guest is served local specialities, such as Salame, Mortadella (sausages), Minestrone (typical local vegetable soup), Saffron risotto with mushrooms, Polenta or the typical local wines and spirits like Merlot del Ticino, Vino nostrano, Grappa, Nocino.

Events/ meetings

From April to October a wide variety of open air music festivals take place (well, sometimes also in beautiful old churches or large modern music-halls), such as: Ascona: New Orleans Jazz Festival, Classical Music Weeks; Locarno: American Music Festival, Funk Festival; Lugano: Summer Jazz Festival, Concerts in Spring, Blues to Bop; Bellinzona: Piazza Blues Festival, Open-air opera at the castle. In August Locarno celebrates one of the most important cultural events in Switzerland … the International Film Festival. The films competing for the famous golden leopard are presented to the public in the unique romantic setting of the Piazza Grande under the warm Ticino sky.

Skiing Information:

In 45 minutes by car you find the village Bosco Gurin (1500 – 2400 m), a wonderful place for Skiing. Just above Locarno is Cardada (1670 m). Other places not very far are Airolo or San Bernadino.

Golf Information:

Golf players will be invited to the new 18 hole golf course “Alle Gerre” which is conveniently located very close to the holiday flat “Casa Ko Samui”. You can reach this place in only 5 minutes by walk. Other Golf places you find in Ascona ( ca. 3 km) and Lugano (ca. 45 km).
