Crested Butte is vintage Colorado. Often described as the Aspen of 30 years ago, the town began as a mining town in the 1860's and retains its historic charm. The town is listed as a National Historic District. The base is at 8500 feet of elevation and the peak is 12,162 feet, offering some of the best snow in Colorado. The mountain accommodates skiers of all abilities, with multiple runs of all types, including the Rambo, the steepest run in North America. There is a snowboard park, a tubing hill, and ski school for all levels. The non-winter months offer activities for all interests: hiking, biking, rafting, horseback riding, fishing, and many summer festivals including the famous wildflower, arts, and music festivals. The town is full of first class restaurants as well as casual dining.
