The Modesto cottage is a country house contructed around 1885 with the purpose of having a millstone with a press used the wine by pressing the grapes.
The land of approximately 4 hectares, where this cottage was built, was in fact at that time entirely cultivated to vineyard later on. The vineyard is afterwards aged with the years and replaced by hundred-year old olive trees and later on also by almond trees. The house, thanks to its panoramic position, is placed at 380 meters on the sea level and during the last world war it has been used by the army to control the surrounding areas. During the eighties the house has been subject to a general restoration. The house is located in Fanelli suburb, at about 5 km from Castellana Grotte on the road that goes to Alberobello from which it is
approximately 14 km distant. It is about 20 km reach the beaches of Capitolo and Polignano a mare.
