Frankish Switzerland is known for its stalactite caves, the hiking and rock-climbing facilities and the cultural highlights. In the year of 2007 many communities in the rural district of Forchheim celebrate their 1000th year of existence. 2007 the diocese Bamberg will also celebrate its 1000th anniversary and the state exhibition will take place in Nuremberg in 2006. Forts and Churches let you take a look back on ancient times. The surrounding towns as Nuremberg, Bamberg and Bayreuth are internationally known. And nature? It is an undescribable gem. Small, narrow valleys, interesting plants etc. – for all nature lovers there is something there. The romanticists did not adore this place for nothing and called it Frankish Switzerland.
