The next bigger village is Santa Maria die Castellabate with various shopping possibilities, bars and restaurants. In San Marco and the near environment you find wonderful sandy beaches. The ‘Bandiera Blu d’Europa’ is awarded to almost every costal village in Cilento for their clear water. San Marco is also famous for the ruins of a Greek – Roman harbour, which was lying in the cliff at Punta Licosa. From San Marco Punta Licosa is reachable within a 45 minutes walk. The name Punts Licosa comes from the siren ‘Leucosia’ which died here in the sea because she could not capsizes Ulysses.
