Agriturismo San Michele is situated in the 'Alta Maremma', a vast area of wild nature dotted with medieval villages, it is a small group of comfortable cottages situated amongst old oak trees, roughly 2 km outside Boccheggiano, a small village sitting on top of a hill, with splendid views, where one of the gates to the Mining Park of these metalliferous hills was recently opened. The hilly landscape (over 500 m above sea level) is ideal for hiking, mountain bike tours and horse riding on a network of well marked trails that thread their way through woods of oak and chestnut trees. The short distance to the coast (37 km) brings the most attractive Tuscan beaches within easy reach. This privileged position makes it easy to reach tourist attraction and cultural centres: such as Massa Marittima, Siena, Pisa, Volterra and San Gimignano or to explore the ancient villages and the remains of the Etruscan era or indeed the ancient abbeys (San Galgano is only about 20 km away).
