A LI'L BIT OF HEAVEN- very secluded custom built, hand-hewn log cabins in a setting that borders Forest Service Land. Overlook an open meadow on our working ranch, you'll hear the call of the wild from the majestic Elk, far overhead - the cry of the Bald Eagle, the yips of the mother Wolf communicating with her pups, the lonely whisper of the wind through the Ponderosa pine trees...and very little else. Gazing out your window, you'll see views of the Continental Divide and historic Lost Trail Pass, where Lewis and Clark passed nearly 200 years ago and the same pass that Chief Joseph lead the NezPerce people through just prior to the battle in the Big Hole. Fishing in three major rivers is from 5 to 35 miles away, as well as rafting, canoing, or kayaking. There are numerous roads in the forest service for mountain biking, hiking, or getting that special picture. And as night falls with clear skies one can do the stargazing of a lifetime.

Nearest Airport: Missoula, MT at 95 Miles
Car: necessary
We are located at the southern most tip of the Beautiful Bitterroot Valley... just 8 miles from the Idaho border and Lost Trail Powder Mountain Ski Resort. We have the last ranch in Montana sitting south of Missoula 92 miles. While the population here is scarce the beauty, solitude and fresh air are in abundance. The wildlife is plentiful including elk, deer, moose, eagles, coyote, wolves, bear, mountain sheep and wonderful fishing. Our place borders the National Forest and State grounds providing unprecented access to hiking, mountain biking and photography. The cabins are on our 220 acre working ranch that has been in our family for over 66 years. However, the cabins are new and beautiful. We do have just the two cabins so that each of our guests are very special and get the attention that they deserve.

  • Each of the bedrooms in The Bitterroot cabin have queen size beds in large rooms each with dressers and night stands. Large closets are in each bedroom. The master bedroom is upstairs with a full tile bathroom and over sized shower adjoining it .. The two bedrooms on the lower floor have large egress windows and a bathroom there as well.. This bathroom houses a oversized shower, tile floor and washer and dryer. The bedrooms are decorated with western themes and individual thermostats for individual comforts. In The Lupine cabin there are two queensize beds in the same 20X15 room just off the bath room which has a large shower , washer and dryer.

Activities: Lost Trail Powder mountain is just 8 miles with outstanding powder skiing as well as cross country skiing.. the Bitterroot River is 5 miles for wonderful fishing and there are miles of hiking trails out the backdoor into Forest Service land to view unlimited wildlife i.e. deer, elk, moose, coyote, mountain lion, wolves, eagles and mountain sheep. One is limited only by their own stamina for hiking, biking or rafting. Area: Western Montana is 'high wide and handsome' by anyone’s standards. And a beautiful place to be with all of the mountains so close, air so fresh and peace and quite so plentiful.

We are on a working ranch that provides for a great deal of privacy as well as solitude from the rush of city life. We are sitting 'In the Shadow of the Great Divide' a very unique spot where North American wildlife abound - birds are varied and many -
