We are confident that if a quiet and secluded vacation is your goal, then Finiterre will not disappoint. Sugary, pink sand beaches stretch for miles in either direction and your footprints may be the only ones you see. Finiterre was completely renovated in October 2006. Perched above the Atlantic Ocean on a 45 foot bluff, the views of the ever changing hues of the ocean are breathtaking. Relax on one of two decks which allow a 180 degree view of the beach and water. The house was completely renovated and has ceramic tile floors throughout. The all-new kitchen is centrally located with views of the ocean through the large great room. Both bedrooms have their own bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed and the second bedroom can be configured as two twins or a king size bed. Beach walks during the day are breathtaking and beach walks under a full moon, are magical. Close in coral reefs are home to thousands of colorful fish and even the elusive spiny lobster.

Nearest Airport: Governors Harbour (GHB) at 16 Miles
It is a beautiful 6 mile ride into Governors Harbour along the less traveled coastal road. A detailed set of maps are at the houses showing secondary roads, jeep tracks and secluded beaches if you want to pack a picnic and go exploring. There are many close in reefs in front of the house and a five minute walk in either direction takes you to more reefs that you can easily swim to from shore. The water is crystal clear and the fish are abundant. Soft, pink sand beaches stretch almost endlessly in either direction and it is rare that you see another person on the beach. The stars are extremely bright since Finiterre is not near any large communities. Sitting on either the upper or lower deck affords an amazing view of the heavens. Deep sea fishing or bone fishing guides can easily be arranged once you reach the island. Every month brings a new species of ocean swimming fish that cruise the shoreline just a few miles off.

Amenities: The entire front of the cottage is a deck that is the perfect place to begin the day with a cup of coffee or end the day with a cocktail while looking out on the majestic Atlantic Ocean. Non-smoking house, new kitchen with dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, and microwave, air-conditioned bedrooms each with it's own en-suite bath, ceiling fans in every room, outdoor shower, Satellite TV with VCR, CD/Tape player, Internet Access, Gas barbecue, washer and dryer, bikes, ocean kayak, beach toys. Internet access available.

Activities: Finiterre has two ocean kayaks available that you launch from the beach. They are easy to paddle for exploring up and down the shore, over the reefs, or out to a deserted island. Two new bikes will allow you to explore the land portion of the island. A day trip to Harbour Island will take you to the resort area off the northern tip of Eleuthera. The restaurants are plentiful and so are the tourist shops. You can even arrange to ride horses on the beach.

Area: Eleuthera is one of the 'Family Islands' of the Bahamas. Many people arrive on the island not knowing what to expect. What you won't find are crowded beaches, large hotels, and vendors hawking their wares. We don't have overpriced tourist shops, trendy nightclubs and restaurants serving buffets to the masses. What you will find is quiet solitude, a few great tourist shops, small restaurants proud of the food they serve, friendly and helpful people, and a sense of peace almost forgotten. Please come to Eleuthera if you want an uncomplicated vacation that let's you relax. If you come expecting something other than a laid back lifestyle, then you will probably leave disappointed. We hope you come and experience Eleuthera.

Our trip has come to an end (2/28 - 3/7/2009). Finiterre is a perfect house! Great location and a beautiful beach. It was great to sleep listening to the waves crashes below us. This vacation was truly an adventure. We explored Eleuthera all the way from Lighthouse Beach to Harbour Island, but we liked the central portion best—it was like we were coming home when we saw the signs for Palmetto Point. Our favorite beaches were Club Med, Ten Bay and Lighthouse beaches. We loved the new Beach House Café and Captain Jacks for dining. The Friday night Fish Fry in Governor’s Harbour is a must too. We were surprised by how windy it was most days—but everyone explained it was a cold front passing through. It still beat the -10 degrees it was at home! We quickly figured out if it was windy in one place, try another—and Eleuthera has plenty of places to find!

We hope to bring our four boys back with us some day.

HI JERI,
WELL.... WHERE TO BEGIN. WE HAD THE MOST AMAZING TIME. YOUR HOME WAS PERFECT, THE PRIVACY AND BEAUTY WAS JUST WHAT WE WANTED AND NEEDED. FINITERRE WAS CERTAINLY A SPIRITUAL PLACE LIKE HEAVEN ON EARTH. ANDREW AND RITA WERE THERE IF WE EVER NEEDED SOMETHING AND WERE SO SWEET. WE HAVE TO COME BACK IT'S ALL WE CAN THINK OF. ANYONE CONSIDERING RENTING FINITERRE SHOULD KNOW THAT IT IS AN AMAZING HOME IN A FABULOUS LOCATION NO ONE WILL VISIT AND WANT TO LEAVE.

We arrived at beautiful Finiterre on Jan 6, having left grey dismal and cold Bemus Point, NY. The house was more than we could have hoped for. Everything a person could need or use was available. The small gift was a nice touch. We marvelled at the view by day and watched the stars and meteors by night. We had a chance to unwind from our hectic jobs and just have fun. Andy and Rita were two of the most wonderful people we have had the pleasure of meeting. We didn't want to leave.....so we have decided to return.

This place was made on Fine Earth for sure. We stayed for a week for my niece's wedding. My husband, daughter, sister and mother stayed at the house and my nephew and his girlfriend stayed in the cottage. Various friends and family members were in other houses around the island but ours was by far the best! The breezes, views, beach, were all wonderful!

Thanks to Andrew for helping us get a car! The outdoor shower is great to use in the afternoon and very private. My mother said swimming in the ocean was like being in a giant bottle of green water. The stars at night are fantastic. The wedding on the beach was beautiful and Dr. Sea Breeze was great entertainment at some of our gatherings. What a unique and fun place!

Andrew, your statement about Rita -- "I could pull a cruise ship up to the shore and she would not set foot on it", was hilarious!! I laugh everytime I think of that. Thank you for the wonderful memories!
