My family and I spent a week at Aspen Glen last July. We swan in Lake Michigan everyday and parked our car and took walks into town. In town we toured the shops, bought gifts for our family and loved Boonedocks restaurant's entertainment at night.

Aspen Glen was very coomfortable for our family of six. We spent many enjoyable nights grilling on the Weber grill and sitting by the campfire. We even saw five deer during our vacation in the backyard. We are coming back this year!

Excellent Location

The Aspenglen cottage has a wonderful location if you want to be near all the amenities of the town of Glen Arbor. Delicious breakfast scones and enticing shops are just a few steps away! A breathtaking view of the Lake Michigan shore is a short walk, as well. Although the beach access is good for viewing the sunset or searching for petosky stones, it is not the best for swimming. The location is not as appealing for those who want a quiet visit; the shops and boat launch at the end of the road generate a good deal of traffic.
The cottage is perfect for a party of three or four, but larger groups will find it lacking indoor seating space. However, if you're off to the many outdoor attractions nearby, sitting indoors will not be in your plans, anyway. The kitchen is great for simple meals, but it won't support any substantial cooking. The proximity to several good restaurants makes it unnecessary to cook, so the kitchen should suffice for most groups.
Aspenglen is equipped with bed and bath linens, but I wished I'd brought a few extra towels. We made good use of the outdoor seating and a bird's nest, complete with hungry young, in the bush out front provided entertainment.
One bedroom on main floor was good for my mother; she'd have trouble on the stairs accessing the other two bedrooms.
All in all, a pleasant spot.

DHH Reunion - Class of '78 (That Old Gang)

I and 5 girlfriends decided to get together over a long weekend to visit, visit, and revisit up at the Aspenglen property. Some of us had not seen each other for 30 years! And, it was a blast!

Not having stayed @ Aspenglen previously, did not know what to expect. It was perfect for us! Less than a block to Lake Michigan, and less than a block to "downtown" Glen Arbor. Plenty of room to park the vehicles (4) out front. The house sits on a large lot, so even though you are in town, it feels like you're out in the country.

The bedrooms were very spacious and comfy. The kid's room is especially cute, with oversized (and I mean LARGE) bears and stuffed animals. Plenty of room to spread out, and not trip over one another. Bathrooms were big and accessible.

The kitchen was well stocked, too. Although I must confess, we didn't do much cooking. There were extra supplies available just in case, which is always a plus, and a large refrigerator. And a coffee pot - this was extremely important to some members of the group. The living area was open to the kitchen, with TV / VHS and DVD player. The only negative was the remote was missing one of the keypads, so you had to fiddle with it, but we managed to watch our movies anyway! There are board games too, so lots to do.

The location was fantastic for sightseeing. We spent the entire day at Sleeping Bear Dunes, and if you have never been there, it is not to be missed. Great vistas of sand and the lake, and only a few miles away.

And, we never had to drive to dinner - enjoyed both Art's Tavern (try the perch on Fridays) and Boondocks. Also, some tasty shopping and wine tasting @ Cherry Republic.

It was an incredibly fun weekend. Aspenglen was an absolutely great place, for getting away from it all and relaxing in a beautiful area of Michigan.
