How to get there:
Exit the motorway at Ventimiglia, follow the road to Colle di Tenda and Cuneo through tunnels, leave this road after about 8 km at the exit to Airole. After 100 m ignore the left turn towards Airole but go ahead for another 50 m follow the right turning to Collabassa. After 3 km and in the middle of the 5th hairpin bend, just after the sign Collabassa, you see a small road signposted Via Dante to your left which you follow up hill to turn left at a crossing after 100 m. Straight ahead with one hairpin for about 1 km. After passing the cemetary, take the right fork up hill. At the end of this road, park the car. There is also space here to turning the car around. From here walk straight ahead and after about 100 m you will reache the houses: Casa Romolo, Via Dante 11 (green wooden doors), Casa Remo, Via Dante 9 (glass door and green blinds) identified by green-white enamel number plates!! You find a wheelbarrow for your luggage behind a small green wooden barred gate near Nr. 11.
The keys:
The house is managed by Signora Maria Biancheri, called 'Nina' who lives 20 m from the Casa Remo. She will hand out the keys. Apart from Italian, Nina speaks perfectly well french. Her phone number from abroad is 0039 0184200193, from Italy, even local calls, 0184200193.

For entertainment, arts, and culture you can reach Monte Carlo (Grand Prix), San Remo or Nice in less than an hour. Immediately to the north there are the Mediterranean Alps with the wild and romantic Gorges de Saorge, the Valle delle Meraviglie with its drawings from the Bronze Age (discovered by an English scolar) - all of which are accessible to hikers. A local train connects Airole to the villages of the Gorges de Saorge, the Piedmont and Ventimiglia. Frequent trains start from Ventimiglia to the picturesque places along the Cote d'Azur and the Riviera.
The skiing resort at the Colle di Tenda is 45 kilometers away and can be reached by local train or car in one hour. This resort is well-kept secret and is therefore less crowded and expensive than many other resorts whilst having all the attractions and range of ski slopes that can be found elsewhere. Booking a winter holiday is possible on special terms.
